The Rotary Club of Nanaimo funded a new gathering space in the park that celebrates 100 years of Rotary in Nanaimo. The garden features a circular design, inspired by the intertidal shoreline, bordered by benches and pergolas, and provides a peaceful space for our community members and visitors alike to connect and reflect. Construction was completed in September. Learn more about the park on our website at https://portal.clubrunner.ca//rotary-centennial-peace-gard

Rotary Club of Nanaimo members along with some spouses enjoyed the club’s annual car rally. The theme was "Moustaches and Crazy Hats"! Thank you to Dawn Hankins, Chair of the Social Committee for organizing the event and Dave Hammond for setting the course and coming up with fun clues to guide our way!

The Rotary Club of Nanaimo is proud to receive a Rotary Citation for our 2019 - 2020 year. The club achieved 19 goals (6 more than the minimum required for a citation) due to the hard work and passion of our members. From fundraising, volunteering in our community, engaging youth, special projects and more, our members commit a tremendous amount of time and energy to Rotary activities throughout the year. Thank you to all of our members for helping cap off our centennial year with this achievement. #serviceaboveself #peopleofaction #rotary #rotaryinternational #rotarycitation #nanaimo #district5020 Rotary District 5020

Welcome to our newest member, Tim Oben! Born and raised in Ontario, Tim lived on Canada's east coast, and in California, before settling in Nanaimo in 2017. He worked as a Child Protection Officer prior to being accepted at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design ("Emily Carr East") in the late 1990s. Upon graduation, Tim started and grew a successful photography business in Halifax. A lifelong belief in the benefits of volunteerism led to various community-support volunteer ro...les, including client intake worker (Daily Bread Food Bank), literacy coach (Peel Literacy Services), adult program instructor (Halifax Parks and Recreation), and shelter dog technician (Tri-Valley Animal Rescue/Muttville Senior Dog Shelter). The short time already spent with Rotary in Nanaimo has been enjoyable and rewarding, said Tim. I look forward to many years of service with the Club.
