Rotary Run for Life 11.12.2020

When someone suicidal is in crisis the success rate for an intervention drops significantly. Being able to recognize when someone is struggling with thoughts o...f suicide, being able to ask about suicide, and knowing what to do to help are key. In 2021 help us give free suicide prevention training to our local communities. For those struggling this can mean life or death. We are also going to offer programming for families on how to support a suicide attempt survivor. https://givingtuesday.ca/part/the-simon-poultney-foundation #GivingTuesdayCA #Suicide #prevention #charity #alberta #donate See more

Everyone needs a shoulder to lean on from time to time. With the upcoming mental health workshop, you can learn how to be a shoulder for someone else! The Menta...l Health First Aid (MHFA) program is a two-day workshop providing participants with the skills and confidence needed to engage someone experiencing a decline in mental health. Sessions will take place at Heritage Park from 9AM 4PM on November 12 and 13 with physical distancing guidelines in place. To register, call 780-963-8583 or use the online registration form http://ow.ly/exTV50BWIeO

You don't have to run to make a difference for mental health and suicide. We are aiming to raise $50,000 this year for our region. Take the challenge and ask 3 people to donate $10 to the run and make your own donation. Cheques can be made out to the Simon Poultney Foundation and mailed to the Stony Plain Family and Community Support Services c/o Rotary Run or pledge online at https://raceroster.com//rot/fundraising-organization/25579

This year a local company Brickbubble designed our beautiful medals. The hands are orange and yellow for suicide prevention and purple and teal for suicide loss. The semi-colon held in the hands brings the hope that those with thoughts of suicide find a way to continue their story by reaching out. Sign up for the run, the first 200 participants will receive the special 2020 collector medal. #rrfl2020 #mentalhealthmatters #suicide #yeg
