Roughrider COVID-19 UPDATED Employee Travel Advisory: Premier Jason Kenney has declared COVID-19 public health emergency in Alberta on Tuesday Alberta had 22 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.... Six of these cases are suspected community transmission. The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Alberta on Wednesday rose to 119. Self-imposed travel restrictions such as canceling and reducing non-essential travel, has proven to substantially reduced the transmission rate and for controlling the transmission of infectious disease. As a result of COVID-19 Air Canada today has just suspended all flights from Fort McMurray International Airport to Edmonton until April 30. Airlines are cancelling flights on a daily Basis and with no notice and options are becoming more limited and new restrictions may be imposed with little warning. Your travel plans may be severely disrupted and you may be forced to remain where you are for longer than expected. As a result of COVID-19 and our essential services that we are providing to our clients we are asking you to not travel outside of Fort McMurray. If any employees have plans to travel outside the province or are outside the province now and have plans to travel back to work here you must advise the Roughrider HR department and receive permission and/or direction from our Roughrider COVID-19 Task Group before you leave or travel back to Fort McMurray, Alberta. Failure to do will result in denial of access to site and unpaid work absence until and if you are cleared back to work by our COVID-19 Task Group. This is effective immediately. Thank you in advance for your understanding during this very difficult time.
