Placing golf tees onto a snowflake thats drawn on Styrofoam. Using the hammer to tap them in more.
We traced one of the boys' bodies yesterday and today, they had to dress the body as if they were going outside to play in the snow! I added a photo of children wearing winter gear for them to get some inspiration from, but this was the outcome. Fine Motor: I drew a snowflake, kids had to stick stickers onto the lines of the snowflake. Great hand-eye coordination, pinser grasp, concentration
The children went sledding earlier this week!
I SPY sensory bin for today
When a tipped over toy shelf is the best gross motor activity out there for all ages! We hung balloons above and hid toys down below for all kids to enjoy
Clay molding, rolling, building! The older boys made snowmen that we let dry & harden.
We will remember The children and Michelle read stories, watched a few insightful videos on why we celebrate Remembrance Day and what it's all about. They asked questions, I answered. We decided to make handprint/footprint poppies and the following day, we made a wreath and I asked each child the question "What is Remembrance Day?" Check out their answers on the wreath artwork picture. They did a great job, the children range in age from 5 to 3 who answered
*Brought the snow inside, jewels&bells hidden throughout, we made snowmen with the scoops and used the jewels/bells as eyes, noses, mouths, and buttons *Created vehicle snow tracks like our "moms and dads" do if you ask one of the dayhome children. Used toy cars to cruise through the white and blue paint with glitter to make it shine like real snow, ya know. *Blue sensory sand with blue jewels and animals. ... *Making snow angels in the snow for the first time this year

The boys (ages range from 3 - 5), working on their letters/small word recognition & sounds each one makes. We have been working on spelling short-small words by looking at the words on the laminated sheet, using wooden letters to spell the same word, then they sound it out to figure out what word they created!
Made some leaf soup with tomatoes (rocks) The children enjoyed taking turns pouring water from the jug into our "soup" bucket. They then used an assortment of spoons to stir their soup, and added any "vegetables" they wanted. Fine Motor: Pulling grass out, & poking it through the holes of a strainer

HAPPY MONDAY! Raking leaves, to soccer & hockey outside, to ladybug hunting, to jumping super high in hopes of touching the branches, to clipping clips onto a wagen wheel, to covering ourselves in leaves, & finally to filling the slide with leaves so we can "crash" into! Plus more.
"FALL"ING in love with painting some leaves yellow and orange, we then cut them out and hung them up! The older children have been working/learning how to cut along the lines of objects rather than through them
Indoor Green-lime scented playdough turned into outside playdough. We created pizzas, cookies, pizza slices, snakes, balls, butterflies, bunnies, trees, and more!
Some Invitations that I remembered to take photos of
Bringing in the cooler, fall weather with some "Fall-ier" Invitations *Sensory Bin with pumpkins, spiders, cups, spoons. We counted how many we had of each, sang Pumpkin & Spider songs, hid them throughout the rice, filled our cups right full with rice using palmer grasp holding a spoon. *Brown paper with fall coloured crayons and markers. We observed our surroundings while doing our best to draw what we seen, which consisted of leaves and trees!... *Fine motor pipecleaner tree with the lids from squeeze pouches!
"The Wheels on the Bus go Round & Round.."! If you were wondering how I came to pick my name for my dayhome..! Well, my son has been obsessed with the Wheels on the bus song ever since at least 6 Months of age and when I hear it on repeat enough, Round & Round just stuck with me.. plus its catchy I think Thank you Griffin for the inspo
Boxes & old toy shelves can have many purposes if you want to get creative The Box: from a "boat", to a hammering golf tees station, to a tinfoil covered car/bus depending on who you ask The Toy Shelf: a great gross motor climbing apparatus to pretending their in a rocket ship blasting off into space while singing "ZOOM, ZOOM, ZOOM were going to the moon" song

Updated-Current Photos of what the inside of Round & Round Dayhome is looking like! The children wanted to have the farm animals in the main area rather then in the bedroom so were making its own area in the corner where the white sheer curtains are hanging with leaves dangling down in front. Its a work in progress! But they have been loving it!
Some of last weeks invitations
The boys doing some heavylifting for the dayhome *coloured water filled milk carton and detergent jug, great simple gross motor activity*
Hey Everyone! I haven't shown you whose behind the scenes and the owner & operator of Round & Round Dayhome, well.. here I' am! My names Michelle Corrigan, I have a basically 18 Month Old son, named Griffin with my loving boyfriend Adam if it wasn't for my son, I'm not sure I would have had the guts to open my own dayhome so THANKS Baby Griff but also thank you to Adam for supporting me in this new business endeavor!... I knew that opening my own dayhome would come with challenges. How would I prepare meals in the day while watching 7/8 kids at once, plan activities, make sure each child's needs were being met, and growing relationships with each child that comes into my home. The challenge has been real, but I have already gotten myself into a great routine that is working amazing. Mixed age groups are a blessing. The older take care of the younger when needed. Its made my transition to running my own dayhome day in and day out so smooth! Its been an amazingly fun, busy, fast-paced work/home environment but I wouldn't change it for anything right now! THANK YOU to all my dayhome families for supporting me and to all future families - reach out to me if you have any questions regarding my dayhome! I'm just a message away
Invitations I have created for my wonderful dayhome children since being open on July 2nd, 2020! The children give me ideas on what they would like to do, and I go from there! So far anything marbles, sand, or clay have been the big hits/interests!
This piano has been in my family since I was a little girl, I remember running to it whenever we were at my grandparents house! I'm so glad its still kicking (minus a couple keys) around & that my son and now dayhome children will get the chance to play around on it! I may need to invest in some earplugs
Michelle & her son Griffin worked very hard on the new quiet room/nap room for the dayhome! Here it is with the lights off; where the children can enjoy the projected northern lights on the cieling while listening to nature sounds, and a diy light "table"! With the lights on; the children can use the farm animal/block area, or the felt board thats on the back of the white shelf! Endless entertainment with this room now, and its not quite finished either!
Simple, inviting activity for children. My son loves opening and closing anything repeatedly, so why not make him something that he can do just that! This took all of an hour to make using the diaper wipes lids, photos printed off (I chose to use colours and animal's as that's what my son has been showing an interest in now), a laminator, some glue and a baseboard Hes been loving it and I cant wait for our dayhome children to check it out too!
I had my creative side break through today, I decided I wanted & needed to make a couple Laminated "Felt" stories for the dayhome children. They have been showing a ton of interest in The Gruffalo, so it was a must to make. Along with The Very Hungry Caterpillar & some body part flashcards! My son and I were also busy over the last couple days painting his hands and feet into a beautiful abstract rainbow! We framed the art, and plan to hang it very soon! ... We wanted to share, hope you enjoy!
Here are some great invitations I had set out for the children to engage in while I was open for the month of April! Fine motor, Gross Motor, Art, Sensory, Dramatic Play, and more. Cant wait to re-open eventually and get back to being creative!
A sincere post written by an amazing parent! Thanks for the kind words
