Repost from @honeymoonphasemusic Booking musicians during a pandemic? Our two cents...... . Hello friends! Laura here. Hope you’re all doing well and staying safe during this very bizarre year. . Nelson, myself, and our good friend Tyler Wagler (fantastic upright bass player) played a beautiful socially-distanced wedding a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to share all the smart things that this bride and groom did right. . 1. They postponed from summer to fall, and reduced their guest list to fit Covid regulations. . 2. They provided clear communication about changes to us via email, and were extremely gracious hosts. The bride even sent us an itinerary of the day so that we knew exactly what was going onsuper helpful. . 3. They made sure we had plexiglass screens. This is a requirement in Ontario for all singers and brass/wind instrumentalists, meaning that we needed TWOone for me and one for Nelson. Tyler was not singing, and did not require one for playing upright bass. . 4. They had us set up in a good spot. We had access to power, and we were distanced from guests, without being too far away from the ceremony. Perfect positioning. . 5. They gave us the contact information for the event coordinator. Always useful at any event. . 6. They had a public health representative there to screen everybody for covid symptoms, and take phone numbers and names for contact tracing. It definitely made us feel safe and taken care of. . . . If you’re looking to book music for an event but aren’t sure about the safety, please reach out to us and we can discuss your needs!
