Fraulein Elsa Koslowsky at 21. She lived through the reign of Stalin and Hitler and made her way to Canada all on her own. A brave and fiery woman, full of life and love. I’ve always loved this photo. Her eyes tell a story. This is my grandma. She was always ready to teach us how to bake, play a game of soccer and always ready for a laugh. 75 years later she is still praying, giving, loving and ready for a laugh. So good to spend some time with her today.

What’s your favourite corner of your house? This is one of mine. It represents so much for me. A place I find peace and rest for my soul. Gifts from our parents... this Charlie Russel print from my father-in-law. It hung in their home for years and somehow the picture captures the essence of who he was as a young man and the man we cherish today. The piano was a gift from my parents... so thankful for a mother who taught me to laugh and sing my heart out. And the guitar... my husband’s.
