Time is running out. Could I ask everyone to please nominate our Amazing Malahat Legion Branch #134 in this contest. You only have until the end of February, if you have not already done so. WHY: During COVID our little tucked away Legion has continued to raise funds for the community, and organizations in need such as Broken promises rescue, the food bank etc. All our funds collected at Remembrance day time are govern by strict regulations to assist the Veterans (As it sho...uld be). Our Can collection and Metal bin funds are used to assist paying the monthly expenses. Once we can re-open and have meat draws, we will be able to replenish out funds for the community (All funds collected during the draws are used to pay for the meat and overages are to return to the community). All that being said our advertising budget is ZERO. Should we win one of these amazing package, we would then be able to correctly advertise to the community what we offer thus, reaching more neighbours and groups in need. Feel free to visit both our Facebook page and our Web site to see more details on what we do yearly for our community. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If there’s one thing we’re known for at Juice FM, it’s our love of the Cowichan Valley, and all things about Island life. If there’s one thing we know about Islanders, it’s how much you love to help those in need, just like all of us here at Juice FM. In our never ending plan to assist, Juice FM presents The Helping Hand. We’re going to give three local Not-For-Profits the chance to spread the good word about the work they do to help make the Cowichan Valley and surrounding area better. For the month of February, we’ll be looking for suggestions on which Not-For-Profit Organizations we can partner with.to lend them a Helping Hand. We’re giving away 3 prizes valued at $8,000, $4,000 and $2,000 dollars of advertising and promotion, to the Cowichan Valley. How can you help? Nominate a Not-For-Profit you feel is deserving, using the form below. We’ll take it from there. https://www.mycowichanvalleynow.com/63305/the-helping-hand/

Can you help? Still collecting pet food for Broken Promises Rescue. Come fill up Lisa’s jeep every Saturday 10 to 2 pm through Feb with animal food. Clumping Kitty litter is always welcome and cages. If your animal food is open just tape the bag up. They also need items for their online auction or resale. Still wrapped or almost like brand new is what they are looking for. All these items can be drop off at the Legion’s front door anytime of the week. Gift cards are needed as... well. We have a secured lock box by our front entrance, if you wanted to leave the envelope with cards, cash or cheques. Just mark it for BPR. The Legion is also collecting bottle, cans, liquor, wine bottle, wine boxes and juice containers no sorting required for the Legion’s bottle drive. Either leave them off into the service entrance during the day time . Blue recycling bin is available. If you can’t make it Saturday any day of the week works. Your generous support is very much appreciated through this pandemic. The Legion’s address is 1625 Shawnigan Mill Bay Rd. Next to the Shawnigan Lake Fire Department
