On behalf of the Branch 36 Executive, I would like to wish you and yours a very happy Canada Day. Normally we would be having our Bar B Q, entertainment, cake and joining in a rousing renditions of :O Canada!. But as we all know, these are not normal times. We still have no idea when and how we are going to open, but when we do, you can be assured that our utmost care will be given to our staff and members to insure their health and well being. While we celebrate July 1...st, let us pause and reflect on another July 1 event. July 1 is also known as memorial day in Newfoundland and Labrador. It has been observed since July 1st 1917, to recall the losses of approximately 700 soldiers of the 1st Newfoundland regiment from the Dominion of Newfoundland at Beaumont Hamel. On the first day of the battle of the Somme, during the first world war. They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
