It has been a busy week for BDSC board members and volunteers. Over 40 km of trails checked in 3 days. Dozens of downed and bent over trees cleared (seems to ...be a common theme this year if you follow other area clubs!), washrooms checked and COVID-19 signage installed, trail signage checked and replaced as necessary and three snow bridges put in place to prevent the trail bed from washing out on E108. Yesterday we even manged lunch at The Catch 507. Great take-out food right on BDSC 505 (County Road 507 and Beaver Lake Road until you can get there by sled)! You may notice the absence of sleds in the accompanying pictures. ATVs have been the vehicle of choice for BDSC work parties up until now. While things look pretty snowy out there, the reality is that due to the roughness of the terrain and erosion from wheel vehicle use in the off-season, there isn't yet enough snow depth to start packing and grooming operations on most of our trails. Unfortunately, we still need quite a bit more snow depth to operate without damaging the grooming equipment . We have had such great support from volunteers this year, helping to get the trails ready to open. A similar effort from Mother Nature in the form of some significant snow would be appreciated about now!!!! Thanks to the BDSC trail work teams, many of whom have been out multiple times over the last couple of weeks, - Board members Doug B, Gord R, Ken G, Mike B, Adam P, John W and volunteers Don S, Phil B, Steve K, Terry W, Mike A and Brian B. Having been out yesterday for the first time in a couple weeks myself, I know these guys must be totally exhausted!! Thanks as well to Scott Boon, BDSC volunteer and OFSC District 2 Governor, for giving up his Saturday and Sunday this week, to work on the BDSC grooming equipment to ensure it is ready for snow. Snow...........Mother Nature, this is your cue....SNOW!

Like many other folks, we have spent much of our forced covid downtime doing cleaning, redecorating, painting, gardening, etc, etc, etc. Building materials and ...hardware have become expensive and hard to get. But with time on our hands, we managed. We will be posting photos of our "new" place soon. Here is a preview: Our Family Suite is a self-sufficient "apartment, which includes two bedrooms, each with a double bed (sleeps 4). There is a private, 3-piece bathroom, a small lounge with satellite TV and Blue Ray player, a dining nook, galley kitchen and laundry facility as well as a screened entry portico for summertime lounging.
