With school beginning soon and many aspects being uncertain and uncomfortable, parents may wish to consider how a switch to private education could benefit their children this fall. At Royal Imperial Collegiate of Canada, even though we shifted to distance education from March-June, we completed the entire curriculum, we had video class discussions, we graded assignments and tests, and wrote final exams (unlike public schools). Our students learned and we were able to measur...e that learning. I have spoken to many local students who claimed they learned nothing the last three months of school last year. Now I am hearing from many families who are not pleased with the local boards' implementation plans for half-online and half-classroom learning. As a small private school, we are planning to have in-person opportunities five days a week. We can also offer the blended or online models for those who would benefit from that, or who might want to take on an extra course while being enrolled with a local school simultaneously. Our class sizes are small: some as small as 4-5 kids. I would just like parents to know that if you are feeling uneasy about the local school boards, there are private options available that might be able to work for you.
