Happy International Civil Aviation Day! We want to acknowledge and thank all of the front line workers in the aviation industry today: regional, national and international. Many are not working because of the pandemic, and our hearts go out to you, it is a true sacrifice to be grounded during this time. To those that are still in the air and servicing the public, you are also great heroes of aviation. Thank you for being diligent and ensuring the well-being and safety of all passengers during this pandemic. 2020 has been extremely difficult for everyone, especially the airline industry, but we hope for more safe travels in the future!

Today, we pay our respects and honour the thousands of Indigenous Veterans that have served our country. Thousands of Métis, Inuit and First Nations peoples have fought and sacrificed to serve this country since the war of 1812. Their impact will never be forgotten, and today we remember them with a minute of silence and immense gratitude. Our hearts go out to those that gave their lives for Canada. To past, present and future Indigenous veterans, we are forever grateful fo...r your service. #indigenousveteransday

Congratulations to Keewatin Air who have adopted new technology to safely transport patients during this pandemic! They are the only commercial airline in Canad...a to have purchased EpiShuttles which are specially designed adult-sized, single -patient isolation and transport units which have recently received operational certification from Transport Canada. This is one more example of how Keewatin Air is continuously looking for ways to improve their ability to safely and more efficiently transport vulnerable patients. We are deeply saddened by the passing of Max Ward. He was an inspirational pilot and aviator that accomplished so much in his 98 years of life. He was a visionary, brave bush pilot, airline owner and veteran. A true Canadian hero. We hope he is still flying high in the skies among the many heroes of Canadian Aviation.

Today, on this 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, we take pause and remember the ultimate sacrifice of our Canadian heroes. They will always be in our hearts, minds and spirits as we carry on their legacies with their stories of courage. At the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada, we are truly honoured to have gathered their stories and preserved their artifacts from wars past. Upon opening our new Museum in 2021, we will be sure that every visitor has the oppo...rtunity to remember the stories of our Canadian heroes and be in awe of their bravery in the face of adversity. We are also grateful to have RCAF veterans on our team of volunteers to help us preserve and protect the artifacts that our heroes have left behind, so that we may never forget their stories. Lest we forget. -RAMWC Team

Happy International Air Traffic Controllers Day! We want to celebrate Canada’s very own Nav Canada, and they hold a very special place in our hearts. Winnipeg is home to Canada’s second air traffic control tower, built in 1940. Canadian air traffic controllers took part in some of Canada’s first commercial and military flights! Canada led the way for decades for many air traffic systems and training of air traffic controllers. Today, Nav Canada is still home to some of the ...world’s top air traffic controllers and we couldn’t be more proud of their dedication. Thank you for all that you do! Pictures from NAV Canada. Pictured is Brett Kellough in Winnipeg Tower, 1941. Winnipeg’s ATC tower in the 1940’s and Vivian Fuller, a controller in 1941. Thank you for letting us celebrate in this important day! If you’d like to learn more about NAV Canada’s history, visit their website at navcanada.ca
