So much room for (3m distanced) activities! Let’s be honest, the new gym guidelines aren’t ideal for businesses. We spent the last few months investing a ton of time and money into building 12 stations that followed the 2m distancing rule. That was already around 60% of our pre-COVID capacity, so the 3m rule makes running the gym even more challenging. Instead of dwelling on the new changes, we decided to change our floor plan and re-tape the floors! Our members’ health ha...s always been our top priority and we think that it’s important to go above and beyond public health measures to ensure that our members feel safe and we are doing our part. In addition to only 12 stations in a 6000 sq ft room, each station has its own equipment and cleaning supplies to ensure that members aren’t coming into close contact with each other during class. We are so lucky to have supportive members who have stuck with us through this crazy ride! While these new measures will be a change for everyone, we know that our members will continue to show up, work hard, have smiles on their faces and keep us positive. At this point we have reached our current maximum membership capacity so unfortunately we are not able to accommodate new members at this time. We are working on building 3 additional class stations and expanding the schedule with more class times so that we can safely accommodate more people. Huge congrats to 11 of our members who made up the @royalcityfit Great Cycle Challenge team on a super successful August. They raised $10,997 and cycled 4,649km to help fight kids’ cancer. Super awesome to see our community come together for a good cause! This should make the assault bike feel easier, right? @greatcyclechallenge

Congratulations to the winner of our #800gchallenge - @ajnaismith ! The challenge, created by @optimizemenutrition and powered by @sugarwod ran throughout month of June. It was a little extra motivation for our members to get their fruits and veggies in while not being restrictive or cutting out any of their favourite foods! Ándrea absolutely crushed the challenge and got 800g of fruits and veggies in EVERY DAY, while also getting points for diversity of vegetables/fruits... and weekly bonus points. On top of this, Ándrea has been a regular in our virtual classes and has made steady gains while working out from home and is doing most of her workouts with a 35# dumbbell now! New merch is ready! All profits from this first round of merch sales will be donated to @blackhealthcan - a community-led registered charity working to improve the health and well-being of Black Communities in Canada. Their mission is to reduce racial disparities in health outcomes and promote health and well-being for people from the diverse Black communities in Canada, with emphasis on the broad determinants of health, including racism. How to order:... - To see our merch, visit https://royalcityfitness.sites.zenplanner.com/retail.cfm - All orders for this first round of merch sales must be placed through Zen Planner and need to be submitted by 11:59pm on Sunday July 12. Once all of the orders are in, we will submit them through @beechhillsupplyco and they should take approx. 2-3 weeks to arrive (hard to give a specific time with potential shipment delays due to COVID). - You will add your purchase to your Zen Planner account and make a payment using that credit card. Our community is what makes our gym great, not the CrossFit name. With the help of our coaches and members we have built a strong community over the years based on the shared values of respect, support and trust. We no longer feel that CrossFit HQ aligns with these values and we have therefore decided to de-affiliate. This will not change the type of fitness and services that we offer or our strong community. We still have a lot to figure out when it comes to re-branding b...ut we know that we do not want our gym to be affiliated with a brand that does not support and take action towards equality for all. The support that we have received from our members over the years has meant the world to us and we did not take this decision lightly. We know that we can continue to support our members in their health and fitness goals without the CrossFit name. Our main concern has always been the health and wellness of our community, and this will remain our top priority moving forward. We will share more details with you in the coming days.
