Rehearsals for Crazy For You started a year ago and although the final product hasn't been able to materialize, we are so lucky to have had such an incredible team. On behalf of the Board of Directors and Artistic Director Valerie Easton, we extend our deep thanks to the cast, crew and production staff for working until the very last minute - we truly had a hit on our hands! Royal City Musical Theatre would like to say a special thank you to the generous supporters who recently made donations for the Giving Tuesday campaign that our long-time partner, Massey Theatre, generously organized this week. Due to COVID-19 we were unable to perform our spring musical Crazy For You. This was incredibly disappointing to our audience, cast and production team. It has placed the organization in financial hardship due to the loss of the anticipated revenue...s from the show that normally sustain RCMT. Additionally, RCMT does not qualify for the government assistance being offered to not-for-profit groups. The Giving Tuesday donations, along with other recent donations from RCMT supporters help to reduce RCMT’s current financial challenges. Hello to all of the dedicated supporters of Royal City Musical Theatre, It is with deepest regret and sadness that RCMT’s Board of Directors informs you of the cancellation of our 2020 production of Crazy for You. RCMT has been following closely the mandates of our provincial health authority. Currently, BC’s Public Health Officer, Dr Bonnie Henry, has banned any gatherings over 250 people. It is our sincerest hope that we will be able to mount the production at a later date ...and we will keep you informed in the future but in light of the ever-changing global environment, we are unable to confirm new dates until such time that the health concerns within the community have stabilized. Our entire team of production personnel, cast, and orchestra have been working hard for months to bring this amazing production to the stage. Due to the amazing community support, Royal City Musical Theatre has proudly brought 30 musical theatre productions to the stage of the Massey Theatre. Together we look forward to continuing this legacy. For those of you who purchased tickets for the April 2020 production of Crazy for You, we ask that you consider the following: - As a non profit organization, we are dependent on our ticket sales for our existence. A great percentage of our production costs have already been incurred. In light of this, and the unexpected cancellation of our show, we ask that you consider donating the cost of your purchased tickets back to the organization. An income tax receipt would be provided for these donations. - Alternatively, existing tickets can be redeemed at face value for any upcoming production, once those are announced. For any inquiries regarding tickets, please contact: [email protected] We would like to encourage all of our dedicated supporters to continue to follow the guidelines of our public health officials and take all necessary precautions during this time.
