To all our Eventers! Now we can get to some competitions. Shared from AHTA There are a lot of new changes to our Equestrian Canada Eventing rules for 2021! To help make sure everyone is aware of these we have created a list of some of the most notable changes.... Remember! It is the rider's responsibility to know the rules,it's an important part of sportsmanship! -French links now allowed. The centre link may be a flat link that lies in the same plane as the rest of the bit. (See Photo) -For Cross Country, a throat lash is compulsory. -The whip is not to be used more than two times for any one incident (*was previously three). Also clarification added about excessive use of whip between fences, as well as visible whip marks always being excessive. -Blood on Horses must be reviewed case by case by the Ground Jury. Not all cases of blood will lead to elimination and an Eventing Recorded Warning or Warning Red Card. -For Cross Country - any addition to the cheek piece is forbidden (sheepskin or additional material). -For Show Jumping only leather sheepskin or similar material may be used on cheek pieces of the bridle providing the sheepskin does not exceed three centimetres in diameter measured from the horse’s cheek. -A Competitor, after having knocked down a flag at an obstacle as a consequence of a run out, may ask the Fence Judge for the flag to be repositioned, but no time will be deducted. -At any time during the competition, the Ground Jury in consultation with the Veterinary Official has the right and duty to eliminate any Horse which, in their opinion, is lame or is unfit to continue. -Any Competitor who leaves the event site after a fall without submitting to the examination required under this Article will automatically be issued an Eventing Recorded Warning for incorrect behavior. -Elimination from one of the tests entails elimination from the overall competition of the Competitor and/or Horse. The Competitor and/or Horse may not continue in the competition. Disqualification from one of the tests entails disqualification from the final classification. Disqualification means that a Competitor and the Horse(s) they are competing may not take further part in the competition. -Modifications to the Eventing Recorded Warning/Warning Red Card System for 2021. Most of all be kind and never compare your journey with someone else’s. just show up for yourself and your horse every ride with patience. Your time will come "Am I a good rider?" she asked, pensively, sat upon her 14.2 cob, covered in poo stains that she couldn’t quite get out before her lesson, that she had persuaded her mum to buy a year ago for just 400 as he wasn’t wanted any more.... "Why do you ask that?" her instructor replied, for she knew how this young girl felt - her eyes often lingered somewhere in between her horse's ears or the other side of the school when teaching. "Because I want to be one." Her instructor pondered on this for a good few minutes, whilst reassuring the nervous cob in front, and then said: "A good rider is not someone who buys flashy horses and competes every Saturday and makes it to the top within a year. A good rider is not someone who jumps the highest jumps or owns the fastest horse. A good rider isn’t made just because they’ve been riding since they were 3. A good rider is not someone who can move their forward horse forward... No.......... A good rider is that pony clubber you see fall off every time she gets on something new, yet still gets back on with a smile on her face. A good rider is that girl who cries in the tack room because of how her horse behaved and how hard it’s been to cope watching everyone else be successful, but to her it seems like she is the only one failing, yet still rewards her horse with a treat and a smile because at least he was better than last time. A good rider is the boy with the angel horse, yet doesn’t claim any of its successes for himself. 'It was all him,' he would say, 'I just sat to it.’ A good rider listens. A good rider is soft. A good rider makes sure the horse is always happy, As a matter of fact, a good rider often has nothing to do with the riding. If you love it, and you try, and you try again, even when you fall off and it was your fault, even when people point because your seat isn’t quite as deep as they’d prefer, if you never give up, that’s what makes a good rider." by Daisy Henderson

This event is put on by the Peace Horse Draft Club at Evergreen Park Their group puts in countless hours to create this magical experience for our community and raises money for local charities.
