On October 15th at NDHQ (Carling), a Depart with Dignity ceremony was held for Col Dan Farris, Assistant DGHS, while respecting #PhysicalDistancing. Presentatio...n done by RAdm Rebecca Patterson, Comd, CFHS. CAF Surgeon General, MGen Marc Bilodeau and CPO 1 Lucie Simpson, Gp CWO were in attendance, with Col Farris’ family tuning in virtually. Over the course of his impressive 35+ year career in the CAF, Col Farris served on various operational tours and held multiple commands, with his posting as Chief of Staff of 4 Health Services Group marking a period of growth and system perspective. Thank you Col Farris for your loyal service and dedication - we wish you all the best as you embark on this next phase of life, Sir!

It is with sadness that we inform you that one of our Medical family has passed away on 19 Sept 2020. Valerie Ann Val Bell who was working at 31 CF H Svcs C Borden has left us. On behalf of The Royal Canadian Medical Service Association, we send our deepest sympathies and condolences to her family and friends. Rest in Peace Val ...... From Wayne Willcott; Good evening, as discussed, Val started at 31 CF H Svcs C Borden in 2007 working with the Support Services Manager to support claims for patients that were outsourced to civilian providers. She was an active member of the unit and was often seen as the life of the party, especially when a Euchre game was on. Val touched many people in a very positive way; she will be missed by all who knew her. Update 3 October: we still have a few pins left. Are you still looking for this RCN Veteran pin?? We have wonderful news, the Malahat Legion Branch 134 is now a...ble to do one last batch of the RCN Veterans Pins. We have had many request and if we would be doing another run. All approved on 9 September 2020 by DND, Director of History and Heritage DHH for the use of the Naval logo. All proceeds to this fundraiser will be coming to the legion. Stan Grenda our Blind Naval Chief Hull Tech Veteran was kind enough to design this pin and help with the project. Cost of the pin is 25.00 per pin for this limited addition. All funds are going to the Malahat Legion Branch 134. We are only open on Saturday for meat draw right now so all money helps to pay the essential bills. They are available off our website www.malahatlegion.ca. Complete the form first and the follow the instructions for payment. The pins are in now ready for shipment. If your interested place your order off our website. We would like to thank ever who received a Veteran pin and helped support our Legion.
