Remembrance Day is more than the Somme. It’s more than Vimy Ridge and it’s more than Juno Beach and Arnhem. Remembrance Day is Kapyong, Cypress, the Golan Heights, the Medak pocket, Rwanda, Kuwait and Afghanistan. Remembrance Day is standing a post in Kashmir or routine patrols Mali, Haiti and Ethiopia. Remembrance Day is Canadian women and men doing good things in places plagued by awful circumstances. Whether it be in the Red River of Manitoba or the trenches of Europe, Canadians have stood on guard for those that need it most. For that, we are forever grateful. Lest we forget.
