Hello, Dancers! Following the successful Zoom Variety Show in October, the Branch is busily preparing for the first-ever Remembrance Day Variety Show on Zoom. Remember to set your alarm so you are ready to sign in after 7:00 PM on Wednesday, November 11, for the start of the show at 7:30 PM. There will be dancing, music, history, and a tribute to our veterans by local performers and a visit from 960 dancers from Toronto. We will again have a chance to chat with each other in break-out groups afterwards. Watch for the Zoom invitation coming to the email of all 2020-2021 members on Wednesday morning. Hope to see you all there!

This year is the first time the Lady Aberdeen Afternoon Tea Dance has been cancelled since its inception in 1939 under the auspices of the Lady Aberdeen club. The dance has been held on Remembrance Day and in that spirit proceeds from the dance have been donated to various charities. Since WW2, proceeds from the dance have been donated to: the war effort (during the war years); veterans organizations and other charities, and for the past few years Honour House amongst others.... While we are unable to meet in person to dance this year, we are asking our dancing community to consider continuing the tradition of donating. You may do so via the link below. We ask that donations be made by November 12th. While there are a number of important and worthy causes, the Board has decided for this year to donate to Honour House, an organization that supports Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans and First Responders when injured or ill. In addition to doctors and nurses, our First Responders have been impacted by additional risks during COVID 19. Any donation is, of course, voluntary and the amount is totally the decision of the donor. However, you might want to consider what you would have spent attending the dance and buying raffle tickets. If you would like a tax receipt (for donations over $10) ensure you complete that portion of the online process via the link below, and the Branch will forward the receipt to you. https://rscdsvancouver.org//lady-aberdeen-donation-fund-2/

All Scottish Country dancing is cancelled until further notice. We must practice social distancing. No ceilidhs, classes, balls, dances or concerts! Time to practice your pas de basque at home. Ready....and!
Following the guidelines from both federal and provincial health authorities regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, especially social distancing, we have decided to cancel the next Ceilidh dance on March 27.
All Scottish Country dancing is cancelled until further notice. We must practice social distancing. No ceilidhs, classes, balls, dances or concerts! Time to practice your pas de basque at home. Ready....and!
As we are all learning, the guidelines from federal and provincial health authorities are changing daily as the COVID-19 virus spreads. Social distancing, especially during the next two weeks, is important behaviour that will determine the successful mitigation of the spread of the virus. Since we enjoy our dancing with proximity and contact, it is with the highest regard for the good health of our dancing community that the Board has taken two difficult decisions: A. Not ...to hold the Heather Ball on Saturday, March 21, 2020, and not to hold the Concert on Sunday, March 22, 2020. B. To cancel all Branch-sponsored classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings until further notice (as advised by the health authorities). Payments for missed classes in this term will be credited to the fall term. From Heather Hankin, RSCDS Vancouver branch President
