One of our favourite activities/ crafts - using pudding to find dinosaur fossils.
Learning about dinosaur fossils and skeletal systems this morning.
Very happy to be back at school! We still have a couple spots in our TTH class for this year. If you’re interested, please message us for more information.
Harold is one of the residents who we love to visit!
Following the spsd directive of school closures for tmrw - we will be closing preschool as well. Hopefully we will see everyone on Thursday/ Friday.
A quick window visit with some of the grandmas and grandpas, Halloween games and a little dancing, and a visit from Beeper! Happy Halloween 2020!
For the first time ever - we are having a snow day and cancelling preschool tmrw (Nov 9).
Have you heard? Did you tell someone?
It was a busy last few days of September. Crafts, bikes, and Grandma Joy were the highlights!
We have spots available in our TTH class. Our MWF class remains full at this time. If you are interested in our younger class, please email us at [email protected].
She’s back! We were so happy to see Grandma Joy this morning!
Our first multi-step craft, using scissors! Will be hanging them in the hallway this week!
We got to visit the grandmas and grandpas! The visit was a little different with the kids in masks and staying away from the residents - but everyone still had fun!
Our first week was a little quieter than other years, but still lots of fun.
Good to know! https://www.encourageplay.com/open-ended-play/
First days of school are on Tuesday and Wednesday! We can’t wait to see everyone and hear all their stories! We hope that all of our graduates from this year who are starting kindergarten have an amazing first day as well - and please send us updates when you have a chance! Registered families starting this week: please check your email - we sent one out on Friday. ... Interested families that we’ve sent out reg packages to: please remember we take registrations on a first received/ first honoured basis, so if you want the TTH spot, please let us know. Have a great long weekend!
When our children are upset, we adults tend to want to skip the feelings and go straight to the solution. Sometimes this works. If your child is sad about dropp...ing her ice cream cone, just saying, I’ll get you another one can make everything all better. But when emotions are more intense or more complicated, children have trouble even considering solutions until they feel heard. Talking about emotions helps children learn about their own and other people’s internal experiences. Wrapping big, messy emotions up in words makes them seem more understandable and therefore more manageable. Also, when children don’t feel heard, they tend to get louder. Reflection is a way of expressing empathy that involves describing the feelings you see. It’s like holding up a mirror to your child to acknowledge, What you’re feeling matters. I’m paying attention. I’m interested, and I care. Here are some phrases you may want to try. https://www.psychologytoday.com//what-say-empathize-better
Thanks to the people who keep us on this list.
At this time we are not requiring kids to wear masks, but caregivers who are entering the building must every time. As well, the teachers will be when social distancing is not possible.
McClure’s building access committee is meeting this week re: our building access request to re-open in Sept. We will be letting families know as soon as we hear. Thanks everyone for your patience and understanding during these uncertain times. We want to ensure everyone’s safety - especially for our kids and the residents of McClure and Amy.
12 GREAT GARDEN CRAFTS: These will keep your kids busy this week! They make great gifts, or they just look lovely hanging on your porch or patio or in your yard! SEE THEM HERE: https://happyhooligans.ca/homemade-garden-ornaments-kids-m/
With drop off procedures changing a lot for this school year, this is a really good resource. It’s more geared towards the teacher, but there’s a lot of takeaway for caregivers as well.
Draw a vase, poke holes, and fill with plants. What a fun idea and great way to work on fine motor skills! @naturallearningkids
