New year, new bathroom has been a running theme around here for 5 years . Lucky for us we’ve been averaging 15 bathrooms per year so have the process (and heck yes it’s always one) down to fine science 1. Make sure framing 1000% straight 2. Move everything in the way (and there’s always at least 5 things ) + plumbing and electrical to desired locations 3. Do the tile layout ... 4. Triple check you have enough tile 5. Check your overage calculation was right 6. Block for the glass doors, floating vanities, towel bars, hooks and any other things that may or may not be added in the future (you can thank us later!) 7. Where’s the niche going (bobs favorite question ) 8. Insulate (PSA there’s a serious shortage on insulation now so plan ahead!) 9. Drain set, curb in, cut the base to size 10. Ditra down on the floor 11. Prova board, screws, washers on the walls that can be closed in then seal it 12. Where are the plumbers and electricians?! And that folks takes a week and we’re not tile ready yet! The number of steps, timing of things, set or dry time and all the substrate material ( ie the parts needed behind your pretty tile) would blow your mind An average bathroom turnaround from being framed is 3 weeks to tile and trim out + 3- 4 for the glass to actually be installed. With covid closures, product shortages and swamped trades in #muskoka these days set your expectations and plan ahead!
