Seniors strategy townhall with Ontario political leaders April 14 - 1 to 3 p.m. Geriatric healthcare townhall with Ontario political leaders April 21 - 1 to 3 p.m. Environmental stewardship townhall with Ontario political leaders April 27 - 1 to 3 p.m. The events will follow a similar format to our webinars. Each panellist will provide a brief overview of their party’s position on the issue, and then we’ll open it to questions from RTOERO members. The parties have received our position papers and white papers in advance find them on our site here. This is an important election in Ontario as we emerge from the pandemichow we emerge, the lessons we take forward, and the future we will build towards are all at stake. I’m eager to hear what the parties have to say. I hope you’ll join us.

Some wise words from a feisty 97 year old! How to stay resilient as you grow older.

In 2019 the newly elected Trudeau government promised Just Transition legislation would be presented in March of 2022. That legislation, to move Canadians off of fossil fuel dependence and to protect the people affected by that transition, had yet to be presented in parliament. The Canadian government has had past experience with Just Transition legislation in the past - when the cod fisheries closed down, they put together a Just Transition act. When the coal mines were clos...ed, they worked on just trransition legislation together with labour organizations to be fair to displaced coalminers. Now, with evidence of real and approaching climate change over the past year - fires, floods, record high temperatures - it is time to take climate change seriously and enact the necessary legislation.
