Thank you, thank you to everyone who came in to get a pie yesterday! The first ever Pies for Paws in support of Ontario SPCA Midland and District Animal Centre was a huge success! Can't wait to do it again. :)

This is the face of a sweet boy that just wants out! 1.5 year old Brett has been with us for 231 days. To say he is a special boy is an understatement - Brett h...as stolen all of our hearts and we want nothing more than for him to find the perfect family. If he's not on a walk or playing in the yard, Brett will stand and wait like this at his door for one of our staff members to come pet him. When you do, he absolutely melts into your hand. He has become so comfortable and loving towards our staff and volunteers, but he gets nervous around new people. Since he can be picky with people and want him to get the opportunity to build trust with his potential adopter, we require any interested applicants to visit with him multiple times. He needs to be the only pet in a home with no children - he desperately wants to be loved individually. We ask that his future family is familiar with owning a dog and committed to setting him up for FURever success. Brett hasn't had an easy life, but we are desperately trying to change that. ANOTHER GREAT RELEASE! Returned to Whitby this week, a beautiful Barred Owl is now free after recovering from a collision injury. SOH has received many owls in...to care this Fall. Please be careful out there. Our wildlife is on the move. Do not throw litter out of your car windows! It attracts rodents which in turn put raptors and other animals at risk as they focus on prey and not the traffic. (Great pics by Ann Brokelman!)

Update. Nov 20: WOW. We have received over 35 applications in the last 24hours !!! We will be reviewing applications and contacting the applicants that best... fit their needs. Thank you for your patience. Meet Sage and Sebastian (Sage is in the bed). Sage is 6 and Sebastian is 5. They are in good health although will need dental work (we will pay for that). They have good temperaments, have not been tested with cats They are bonded - Sage completely adores Sebastian and therefore we would like to see them adopted together.
