Fit 4 Sport 31.12.2020

So excited to share the amazing workshop that @katemcarson is offering this Saturday! I will be participating, and hope to see you there as well! Step into 2021 with a deep awareness of how you want to feel and what you want to create! ... We are in a time where we need to create from our hearts through creative ideas, sacred dreaming and focused intention, to recreate the world we live in by choosing to make conscious shifts in our individual lives so that the collective itself shifts. Join me this Saturday to create a powerful intention for your life so you can move through this unprecedented time with ease, grace and peace. Your Sankalpa is a powerful intention that brings clarity, focus, purpose and meaning to your life for how you want to feel and what you want to create. It is a primary tool for personal growth. We create a Sankalpa to focus the mind, relax the body and align our energy for deep healing and conscious change. We use our Sankalpa to direct subtle shifts in our waking life through making conscious choices, breaking thought-patterns and changing habitual actions. Your Sankalpa will be your source of inspiration for making decisions, for becoming clear on whether situations are for your highest good, and for redirecting your mind in moments when you feel unbalanced. This workshop includes: Creative Heart Meditation Strategic Journaling Exercise Art Activity - bring your favourite art supplies! Yoga Nidra practice to plant your seed Saturday, January 2 1:00 - 2:30pm Live via Zoom ONLY $25 *Please bring a journal, eye mask, 3 blankets, a cushion and 2 pillows. What students are saying: Attending this Yoga Nidra Workshop was a wonderful, creative and peaceful experience. Kate's knowledge has made this workshop easy to understand and was very peacefully led into the setting of the Sankalpa. I loved the creative artwork part that enriched this already beautiful workshop of Yoga Nidra. I truly enjoyed it and I recommend having this experience for everyone who wants to find their intention and learn how to incorporate it into their daily life. - Miriam

Let’s welcome 2021 with a fresh perspective! Join Fit 4 Sport & Wellness Coach, Jamie Meldrum, for our December Wellness Webinar, Getting to the Heart of Wellness! This webinar will focus on getting to the heart of what makes wellness important to you and recognizing the point at which you are satisfied with your wellness. Bio Jamie is a Professional Certified Coach (International Coach Federation) and works as a Wellness Coach at Durham College. He focuses on helping individuals become the best versions of themselves. Engaging in conversations that encourage clarity, understanding and movement forward, he ensures their needs are identified and addressed in the ways that are important and meaningful to them. Having a background in social work and mental health, his approach to wellness and healthy living recognizes that we often have needs unique to ourselves and he strives to unlock potential and confidence in moving forward. The webinar will be held via Google Meets, Tuesday December 1st at 7:00pm. DM or email [email protected] to register! The first significant snow fall is on its way to our area today! This is our yearly refresher of safe shovelling tips: 1. If you are medically restricted from physical activity, please speak to your health care practitioner about if and how you can safely shovel!! 2. Warm up with some gentle mobility for the back, hips and shoulders before starting 3. Push the snow on the ground as much as possible over lifting it. When it comes time to lift, take several small shovels fu...ll as opposed to a completely full shovel, keeping the scoop close to your body, keeping the slight arch of your low back and using your legs to lift and turn instead of your spine. 4. Try to alternate the side you are pushing and lifting from. 5. Use the principle of pacing, especially if you are not use to vigorous physical activity! It is better to go out a few times during a significant snow fall if time permits, as opposed to waiting until the snow has stopped. The most common injuries I see from snow shovelling are low back and shoulder strains. If you do experience pain following shovelling that is not a normal post-exercise muscle soreness, rest from aggravating activities for 48 hours. If pain has not resolved in that time, consult your health care practitioner. Happy Winter Ontario!!! #movementmission #exerciseismedicine #firstsnowfall #letitsnow See more
