For his work, he was awarded the inaugural Studio 58 Diversity Award. This experience helped him discover his love for creating work that helps the stories of marginalized voices find a prominent place in Canadian society. Shanae’s work is heavily influenced by the intersections of identity, beliefs and experiences which help people in the modern world explore and express the full complexity of themselves and the world around them. Select producing credits include: Tremors 2020 Theatre Festival (Rumble Theatre), Coyuntura 2020 (Canadian Latinx Theatre Artist Coallition), Straight White Men (ITSAZOO Productions), Mx by Lili Robinson (winner of the 2019 Fringe New Play Prize and Cultchivating the Fringe Award) and Catalina La O (winner of the 2020 Fringe New Play Prize). Our second FutureFacilitators cohort member is the ever perceptive Kaitlyn Yott. She will be studying facilitation through the framework of auto-ethnography. Kaitlyn is a Queer Coast Tsimshian and Japanese-Canadian artist and storyteller. Her journey as an artist began in acting for Musical Theatre, which lead her to participating in the resurgence of Indigenous Storytelling through the lens of Canadian Theatre. Hey, we got nominated for a Critics Choice Innovation Award at the The Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards for Take d Milk Nah. Thanks. TDMN talks about addressing the stories of the places we inhabit. One of those examples Jiv talks about is Africville in Halifax and its destruction by White settlers. Its a similar story to what has happened here in Vancouver to the once flourishing neighbourhood of Hogan's Alley, and countless other stories of Black displacement. We've linked ...a quick video below. Its a good place to start. But there's more to the story. And there are more stories. Probably in your neighbourhood. Take a moment to look them up. Learn their stories. This is our true heritage. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1imr0T5U3Yc)
