Today was a very good day for our Wednesday group. We ran into a deer! ....... Why on earth would we be so happy about this?!... Let me explain what happened: There we are, in the middle of our beautiful back country on our adventure minding our own business and tiring out our group - when a large buck comes out right in front of us! For a second he stops and sees a glimpse deer Jesus I’m sure, his whole life probably flashed before his eyes as he too was minding his own business in the woods. The dogs start running to see what’s up! (You’re probably thinking oh crap at this point!) Cue what we are so happy about! Immediately we give our recall words (Here Pups Here!) and start backing up with the rest of the dogs to give the deer as much space as possible. Every single dog that started to run turned on a dime and came back to us the second that recall word was given No hesitations. This photo was taken seconds after the buck passed through, we were partying at how well the entire group did! This is why obedience drills are so important to keep up on as dog walkers - those dogs knew exactly what to do and what we expected of them, the second we asked it of them. It was extremely rewarding watching the scene fold out in front of us and one of our emergency situations we practice for end successfully. I’m sure the deer was thankful as well, and will probably look both ways before he crosses a trail from now on haha! Fun, fair and firm, that’s our motto! Stef - Owner Run a Mutt Dog Services

One year ago Mist passed away while under the care of a Black Creek dog trainer. He was a valued member of our group, with the sweetest personality - a very good boy Here are some of our happy memories with him. Hope you’re having fun on the rainbow bridge Misty boy I respectfully ask that any names or details surrounding the tragic day last year be kept off this post to keep it strictly about remembering this wonderful dog. Thank you.
