Special Event The Rupert Library and Second Hand Store is only opening for two special event days in August. Our official reopening will be in September with more details to come at a later date. As you might imagine, once we are able to open our doors, our second hand store will not look anything like our normal vibrant, community driven gathering space. For the foreseeable future our main priority will be to connect our loyal customers with quality gently used items in the ...safest way possible. We are hoping that our clients and donors will read our message and use their best judgement when sharing our space, as we rely on the hard work of our volunteers, of which the majority are over 60 or who have compromised immune systems. While we usually have a communal gathering type atmosphere in our store, there will be no gathering in groups indoors. There is a park at the Community Centre where children can play, and clients are welcome to use their best judgement while socializing at a safe distance while in the parking lot and surrounding area. **We are not accepting donations at this time** Back to School Event - Saturday August 22nd 12:00pm - 3:30pm 24 Shouldice *Upstairs in Rupert Community Centre* Items: Kids clothing & footwear, school supplies, school bags, kids books, toys. The YWAR board met last Thursday night for the first time in 5 months, since the start of Covid-19. The shutdown meant we missed our AGM in April so it was decided that we would postpone it until next year and have a combined 2019-2020 version. If you have any questions or concerns about this, feel free to contact the President Myles Mahon at 819-459-3468. Thank you. Merci.

The last of the founding members of the YWAR, Leyton Woods, has passed away. His (private family) graveside ceremony is from 11:30 to about 12:00 on Thursday, 02 July at the Rupert Union Cemetery. To honour Leyton, while keeping our social distance during this Covid-19 pandemic, we are planning a cavalcade to drive past the cemetery once we have received a signal from the family that the ceremony is over. Those wanting to participate should assemble at the Rupert Community ...Hall, or just join in the cavalcade, up and down Chemin Des Erable, after 12:00. There are no rules except to respect the privacy and dignity of the graveside ceremony while it is underway. After that, in a show of community support, we can all drive past the cemetery, turning up and down Chemin Des Erables, from Rupert to Lascelles and back, as a way of honouring the memory of Leyton.
