WE HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS!! We have been given the go ahead to begin a gradual re-opening as of Thursday May 28th. The news was very abrupt and with no notice so we are using this time to get fully organized for re-opening. We ask for your continued patience as we work through implementing new protocols as well as securing adequate PPE. Part of the new protocols from the Minister of Health states that we must ask that clients wear a mask to their appointment and for the dur...ation of the appointment unless there is an underlying health condition or you have difficulty breathing. Clients will be asked to wait in their cars until they are waved in by their therapist. As well, we must screen all clients prior to their appointment to ensure they are not presenting with any COVID-19 symptoms. At this time, we will not be taking online bookings. We will be contacting those that lost their appointments due to our mandated closure. It is imperative that everyone understand that the Minister of Health is asking us to prioritize those that need essential care versus those that are not in dire need of a massage. This means that those that are in pain and having difficulties with their daily life due to said pain, loss of function/mobility, etc. will have priority before those with less urgent needs. The risks of receiving a Massage Therapy Treatment must outweigh the possible risks of contracting COVID-19. Please keep an eye out for a future post on our page in regards to when online booking will be opened back up to the general public. We will post it here once we are caught up with cancelled appointments from March, and as soon as we have a more concrete date! Lastly, we have made the decision to implement a new fee schedule that is in effect immediately. Every client will be made aware of this new fee schedule before booking an appointment. We appreciate everyones understanding and we are incredibly grateful and happy to be able to once again offer Massage Therapy to the public! Unfortunately, we will remain closed until further notice. Our governing college (College of Massage Therapists of Ontario) and the Chief Medical Officer of Health has asked us to keep our doors closed. This is a very difficult and trying time for us as humans as well as a small business. We appreciate all the support from all our clients and hope everyone can stay safe and well.

As of yesterday evening we had made a difficult decision. Before posting on here, we wanted to get in touch with every client we had this week. Given light of recent circumstances, we have made the heavy decision to cancel all appointments this week. We will re-evaluate at the end of the week before deciding how to proceed for the coming weeks. This was not an easy decision but one we felt we must do in order to do our part to protect our clients, our community and ourselves.... As someone who is immunocompromised (Kiyah), I can fully grasp how quickly a virus can spread and wreak havoc on those most vulnerable. We feel strongly that it is our duty as Health Care Professionals to use our best judgement to protect those most vulnerable. Given that our community is densely populated with that sector, it feels morally irresponsible to continue to potentially put lives at risk. Some people may disagree and feel that many are over reacting but prevention is key. Furthermore, The College of Registered Massage Therapists (CMTO) has strongly suggested we suspend all non-essential massage until further notice. As well, many other regulating colleges have recommended suspension of all non- emergency services. However, the discretion has been left to each individual to decide. We are unsure how long this could end up lasting but are hopeful that we are doing the right thing. It would feel absolutely irresponsible to continue to remain open given the current circumstances and recommendations from the Government of Canada. Again, we will re-evaluate at the end of this week and decide how to proceed for the following week and so forth. We are all taking this day by day. Rupnow Massage Therapy is proud to announce a new modality! Kiyah Fairborn RMT will now be offering Craniosacral therapy treatments! So what is Craniosacral? Craniosacral is a gentle form of treatment geared towards relieving pain and tension using subtle manipulations of the skull, spine, and pelvis. By harmonizing with a natural rhythm in the central nervous system, it grants the body an opportunity to help unwind itself through varying techniques guided by the RMT. Crani...osacral is meant to to improve the functioning of the nervous system, relieving pain and improving mobility. Craniosacral is NOT deep tissue treatment, and does not include techniques such as trigger point therapy, frictioning, or resistance training. Booking can be done through our usual software.
