Just letting everyone know that I will be having a snow day tomorrow. We already have 5 of snow and it is going to snow all night. Customers from all over are messaging and they have lots of snow coming.

The most fun quilts I have worked on for a long time!!!! These are sisters and sister-in-laws. The quilt maker made four of them. She says they all have a grand time when they are togethet! I have to giggle every time I look at them! What did you giggle about today?

Happy snow day to you all and hope you are all doing well! I thought I should give all you fabric lovers an update on what is happening in the fabric world and affecting my shop as well as shops across the country. Here's what to expect: PRICE INCREASES AND DELAYS! Prices of fabric gray goods have increased causing increased manufacturing costs. Shipping costs for anything international (fabric, minky, Fireside, most notions, etc etc) have TRIPLED! I recently ordered po...lar fleece from a Vancouver wholesaler and since I had never ordered this from them before I only ordered one. When it came I decided I liked it and ordered more. I was informed that the price was now $1.75/meter more and that they were having to sometimes having to raise their prices on incoming goods weekly! Fireside I ordered in October for customer orders will show up in December, maybe, fingers crossed. EVERYTHING shipping from BC is not coming until highways are opened up. So that affects Fireside, Moda fabrics, Minky etc etc. The good news is that I still have awesome fabrics in the store and a good stock of Minky and Fireside! I have some beautiful new Christmas fabrics too. I hope you all have an awesome Christmas season and lots of fun and laugher with friends and family.

Storm Warning! Due to the large snowfall we are getting I will not be at the quilt shop tomorrow. I am not afraid to drive in winter, but the road needs to be... plowed! By morning we will have at least 8 inches, just a bit too much for the Suburban and very hard to see where the road actually is! Happy snowday to all of you and please stay safe! See more

Due to the inclement spring weather we are having I am just letting you all know that Rustic Quilting will not be open tomorrow. Customers from all over are telling me the roads are terrible. Our roads are still passable but we are to have more snow tonight and I know that the plows will not be out until at least Wednesday (the logging trucks take priority and they aren't hauling within 40 km of our road right now so the plows always go to the parts of the road that they ar...e using first!) March is certainly going out like a lion. I hope you all have a great time sewing and spending time with family in this fun storm. You should see the drifts off of the lake on our front deck! The wind blew up huge (some 7 feet tall) snowdrifts with crazy sharp peaks that eventually fall off so we have little mini avalanches every few hours! I am working on cutting a few new kits so I will post them during this next week! Happy Spring! See more

I am the official self-proclaimed Elastic Queen! Some of you who were in the shop last week witnessed the struggle with elastic! I could t find an end and it was a mess! They ship it all together in a 500 meter bunch and I thought I was carful unpacking it but I gues not! I took it home and packaged it nicely in 10 meter packages. I have white, black, pink, mauve, blue and cream! $.50/ meter. I worked with some of the coloured stuff this week at home and it was so fun to put pink elastic on a little girl’s mask!

If you tell me that you need a marking pencil this is the one I will recommend every time. It is a fine tip Mechanical Chalk Pencil that marks everything accurately and everyone loves it! It comes with white chalk but you can also get green, gray (new color!), pink, yellow, and of course white refills. The pen with a pkg of refills is $18 and pkgs if refills are $10.50

If you have been to my shop you have probably seen some of the receiving blankets that I make with crocheted edges. Over the years I have taught many customers how to make them. Recently one customer asked for some other colours of the Anne cotton yarn that we crochet with on the outer edge. I discovered that I had very few colours and NO pink!!!! So, here is my new order.
