Meet the dogs. We have two dogs on our farm. Timber (on the right) and Oakley (on the left) both of them are great hiking buddies. Timber has been with us for ten years and has been a great dog to have around the farm. He is great at herding the tractor. ... Oakley is our 7 month old pup. He came from @riverviewranchmeatco. His mom and dad are Sadie and Skip. We got him to be a working dog with the cattle and is so far showing great signs he will do well. He is also a great family dog for our kids. Both are purebred border collies, a breed that we both love. See more

Since we have had a lot of new followers lately, we thought this would be a good time to reintroduce ourselves. Hi! We are Mitch and Kate, 7th generation farm owners, and 1st generation farmers. (Farming skipped a generation in Mitchs family.) Our farming dream started from scratch in 2017. All we had was the barn. It’s been a long road getting everything we need to from equipment to land, but it’s been fun. We have a mixed herd of cattle, Shorthorns, Speckled Parks and a co...uple new Herefords. We raise our cattle for freezer beef. Mitch is a mechanic by trade and still works full time in the city. Kate has worked in the floral industry in the past but is now home full time with our children and helping run the farm. Farming has been interesting to say the least as we have had to learn everything. Although we both agree it’s hard we wouldn’t change it. Photo from Rawhide Adventures & Peace Valley Ranch 2019

It’s been over 40 years since there were Hereford cattle on our farm and with the demand for our homegrown beef so high, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to expand our herd. These heifers will be bred this summer to calve next spring. Thanks to the Pugh Family at @lianmorherefords for this great set of heifers that will fit beautifully into our breeding program. History time. My grandpa Turnbull raised registered Herefords. His cattle won many shows at local fairs. He was even lucky enough to have sold a few bulls to the local cattle breeders associations. #rockviewfarmsmonocentre #herefordcattle #monocentre

History lesson! As many of you know, our farm has been in the family since 1822. Although we don’t know exact years on when the house and the barn were built, we were told by a professional in restoring old bank barns like ours, that our barn was built around the 1840s. In this picture you will see some initials. These are on the door frame of the main entrance to the barn. RT is for Russel Turnbull. Russel is my Great Grandfather. He was the 4th generation on the farm. ... You will also see AHT. This is Alex H Turnbull. He is my Great Great Great Uncle. He would have been the third generation on the farm. All over the barn we find new places that our family had marked their place with their initials. -Mitch
