IMPORTANT NOTICE (Please Share) - We have been advised that there is an uncontrolled forest fire in the 5 points in the area of St. Croix Lake and Loom Lake. W...e aren't sure yet which direction the fire is travelling. The fire was caused by lightning and the MNR is battling it. We will provide more details as they become available. Please stay out of this area for your own safety! ***Update July 13/18, 9am*** The fire in the 5 points is now out, all trails are accessible, there is still a complete Burn Ban in City of Kawartha Lakes, Trent Lakes and Haliburton County, all burn permits are cancelled and no campfires allowed. ***Update July 9/18, 4pm*** Both the City of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County now have Fire Bans in place, so no campfires and current burn permits are suspended until the fire bans are over ***Update July 9/18, 9am*** The fire is now under control and has not spread beyond the 35 acres - The entire area including Trent Lakes, Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County is now considered high risk for further forest fires due to the dry conditions, please use extreme caution when camping or out on the trails ***Update July 7/18, 9am*** The fire is still burning but is being held within the 35 acres ***Update July 6/18, 9am*** The fire has burned 35 acres and the current status is "being held" which means the fire is being controlled ***Update July 5/18, 9am*** As per the MNR fire management office there is no change to the status of the fire, it's still rated as "not under control" at this time but they hope to have it fully under control by the end of the day today. The area affected by the fire has not grown in size and they have added two more crews for a total of 5 ***Update*** "more than 12 hectares (30 acres) has already burned, there are 3 crews working the fire and they are also using a CL415 waterbomber and lead birddog aircraft, so if you are on or near a lake and see these planes coming in, please move to the side of the waterway and allow them to perform their scoop" ***Update*** the attached photo is a rough idea of where the fire currently is but please stay out of the trails completely until the fire is under control as it can spread quickly!
