The Real Estate market really came out swinging this month. The number of sales has been up every month in the first quarter of 2020. This month we reported a 31% increase in sales Y.O.Y. Average sales prices have remained steady across the region in March as a result of lower inventory. Oshawa saw the greatest gains Y.O.Y at just under 15%. Despite these gains, the housing market began to experience a shift in mid-March following the outbreak of COVID-19. New listings and tr...ansaction numbers have slowed down and are expected to remain lower in April. Both the supply and demand for Real Estate will decrease. Predicting Real Estate trends is difficult in normal markets, however, during these unprecedented times it will only become harder to make market predictions. It's clear that transaction numbers will decrease as people stay home to keep safe and follow Public Health recommendations. So far, we are noticing both Buyers and Sellers taking a step back. Average sales prices, as a result, have remained largely unchanged as the laws of supply and demand prevail.
