Here's our Academic Program for Entrepreneurship post-bootcamp inspiration of the week! Christa gives us a breakdown of what she learned last summer: "My experience at the APE Bootcamp has been the highlight of my undergraduate time at Ryerson. It was incredible to come together with students from across the world to work on a single problem. I was able to understand diversity in a completely new way by seeing how the cultural context in which one lives greatly shapes their v...iew of the problem- there were six students in my group with six different definitions of the same problem. I also learned the importance of taking action despite uncertainty. And how talking about a problem will not create the solution- one must take action, get out of the room, talk to users and customers and listen to their needs and wants. Design Thinking isn't just a entrepreneurship tool, it is a problem solving tool. Since returning to Ryerson I have implemented Design Thinking principles into both my work and personal life, including using it to help create my post-graduation plan." --Christa Plumley Thank you for sharing, Christa! We hope that future students, too, will be able to learn and experience the power of design thinking.

I have shared my knowledge and experience with the 26 women and used the skills I gained to build the startup." -- Dara Jarallah Amazing! Here's our Academic Program for Entrepreneurship post-bootcamp inspiration of the week! Alexander gives us 3 points on how his APE experience boosted his career as an entrepreneur: "I can tell you first hand that the APE Bootcamp in Munich was a pivotal step in my learning process at Ryerson. This opportunity opened the door for so much more - what do I mean by this? 1. Learned and applied the different tools comprised within design thinking in a period of one week, which res...ulted in a working prototype: a game based solution that helps break bad habits 2. Formed meaningful and lasting relationships with peers and industry professionals that I maintain to present day - most prominently the Future Food Institute (FFI) and my startup the Food Innovation Hubs founding team 3. This experience didn’t just end at the end of the week but rather paved a path forward for my partner Tanner MacDonald and I to participate at the Future Food Program in Sicily this summer where we formed a sustainable relationship with the FFI to start the Food Innovation Hub here in Toronto (Ryerson University) The Food Innovation Hub is... 'A network of resources for food related start-ups that help start, grow and build their company through mentorships, education and corporate alliances.' For more information checkout our website: www.foodinnovationhub.ca So when you ask me: Was the APE Program in Munich a meaningful investment toward my personal development and time? I say absolutely and I urge all that have the chance to participate to do so because you will not regret it!" -- Alexander Mines Bravo, Alexander! We are excited to see what's next for the Food Innovation Hub!!
