A little canned food goes a long way! SAAF regularly receives donations of canned food from the always generous Bosleys by Pet Valu Nanaimo on Bowen Rd and distributes them to the pounds in Nanaimo and Victoria. Cats in care get a bit of canned food each day as a supplement to their regular diet. It adds a bright moment to their day and is extra beneficial to cats who are underweight or tend to get dehydrated. Juno is currently waiting to be adopted at Nanaimo Animal Control Services and she is prone to urinary crystals. SAAF provides her with a veterinary urinary diet to help prevent crystals, making Juno happier, healthier, and more adoptable! (She also thinks it is delicious!)

We would like to say our biggest THANK YOU yet to Bosleys by Pet Valu Nanaimo on Bowen and all their generous customers. Through their Paw campaign in April we received our largest donation yet! Their advocacy and their customer’s generosity provided SAAF with $1,833!!! Some of this money is saved for veterinary emergencies, and some is spent on other necessities such as specialty diets for animals that don’t do well on the regular brands fed at the pound. Little Charlotte at Nanaimo Animal Control Services gets to enjoy her new feather toy as we celebrate!

Elliot volunteered to be a foster mom cat to a litter of 5. They are getting big and he is still enjoying giving back and spending all of his time with them.

If you are in Nanaimo and your pet is not already microchipped, now is the time to get it done! Not only is this event a great deal, but it also supports an awesome local senior dog resuce.
