Saben Landscaping

Custom made planter for our client. First piece in making their balcony garden in the city.

This couple called us to rescue their front and back yards. Over the years they had people come by and all that was done was to put more mulch on top of old mulch. By the time we got there, plants and landscaping stones were buried and the weeds were running wild. We got down to the soil to clear up the weeds, divided and transplanted plants that were not growing in their best conditions (too deep, too shady or sunny) and added a few new plants that we recommended to give their garden a bit of new life. By the end of it they were super thrilled and are looking forward to enjoying their gardens again.

The owners of this property had an old pond that was taking up a large chunk of their backyard. Space downtown is a premium and this pond didn't bring them much joy. As much as I love ponds and water features I have to admit that the open area created once the pond was removed made the backyard feel more inviting. We finished off by removing an old wooden staircase and disposing of a pile of old and rotting wood. Maybe a nice tree instead will round out the space and give this growing family much peace and enjoyment in the future.

This client wanted us to just clean up the front. Months of windblown trash was interlaced with layers of dead leaves and small branches. Cleaned up all the trash and bagged most of the old vegetation. We left some leaves to be worked into the soil to improve soil quality and did some light pruning to stimulate growth. Hopefully we'll get an opportunity to care for this space over time and maybe add a few pollinator friendly plants to beautify the front for the owner and support nature at the same time.
