Facebook has been a marketing giant for over a decade. But in the bigger picture of things, platforms and agencies come and go. I grew up with the internet. I remember the excitement of AOL, MSN Messenger, Napster & MySpace. Some live on in some shape but others will come along too. A number of the world's largest corporations and ad agencies have joined a boycott of Facebook and Instagram, who say the social media platforms profit from hate speech and that their policies wor...k to ensure this. I am always glad to join voices speaking out against hate. Until recently I was endeavouring to help myself and local business use this powerful platform to provide leverage to business and marketing. However my attraction to the web developer community, media, marketing and business has always been to leverage my interests in building healthier communities through open source practices and acccessibility. I will keep you posted if and when I may be back as a Facebook advertiser. "A recent survey of nearly 60 companies by the World Federation of Advertisers found that about a third were likely to halt ad spending across social media due to hate speech, while 40 percent were considering doing so.
