Passionate about Helping People Experiencing Pain Hi! I’m Sacha, a physiotherapist for over 15 years, and I am passionate about pain. I have helped hundreds of people with complex and persistent pain, people that weren’t having success with ‘doing their stretches’ or ‘sitting up straight’. My success comes from guiding patients through my 4 Pillars of a Happy Body:... Posture and Body Awareness Pain Education Muscle and Fascia Release Nervous System Calming Pain can be complex, I help untangle it and sort it out. A little bit about me: I am a momma of 2: a fiercely independent 5-year-old daughter (shout out to those of you with littles who already know more than their adults!), and a sweet-as-pie 2-year-old son Being out in nature is crucial to my body + mind happiness! My goal for 2021 is to take my kids camping - any suggestions on your favourite camping spots in Alberta, BC or Sask with trees and water are very welcome!! (As well as tips on how to camp with kids ) Thanks for being here! Please feel free to drop me a DM if you are struggling with your pain - I am here to help . Does this sound familiar?? That tension in your neck at the end of the day That gripping feeling between your shoulder blades after sitting all day at a computer... That stiffness in your lower back in the morning That pinching in your hips when you stand up These are all ways your body is telling you something isn’t quite right. Body awareness, listening, and making adjustments when you feel these sensations, can halt pain in its tracks. Listen and take note! Want to learn how to listen to your body? And how to adjust to feel better? Join my FREE 1-hour Online Workshop on Monday, November 2 at 12pm MST. I have spent the last week with my eyes and heart wide open, listening, learning... starting down the necessary road of understanding my own inherent biases and... privileges... One recommended resource for anyone else on the same road: https://brenebrown.com//brene-with-ibram-x-kendi-on-how-t/

Pain is personal. There are many factors that led to you having pain - your job, how you sit, how you play, that back injury from your 20s That is why the stretches that work for your friend or for your mom or for your brother or for your co-worker don’t necessarily work for you. ... And it isn’t your fault. You aren't doing the stretches wrong, you don't need to stretch more often. You need someone that can look at the whole picture and tell you why YOU have pain. Help it make sense to YOU. Help direct you to what will work for YOU. And that is when you will start seeing the progress you are searching for. Still searching for the answers to your Pain Story? For anyone feeling the physical and emotional toll of our current situation (...and I'm right there with you!), here is a link to an very informative, educational, and helpful tool. It defines the physical symptoms of stress: chest tightness difficulty taking a full breath... muscle tension or aches or pain restlessness difficulty sleeping And the mental symptoms of anxiety: unhelpful thinking patterns fixating on threat, uncertainty or negativity in a very simple, clear, and honest way. And it provides do-able suggestions and tools to help manage in these overwhelming times... I especially enjoyed the 'Good News' websites and the detailed help in creating a Stress Resilience Action Plan. Thank you to The Wellness Society for such an amazing free tool!! What a bizarre month... I have gone from being productive, to just staring at my phone, and back again every few days. I don’t know what I expected but I definitely wasn’t prepared for the mental fatigue - so much running through our minds these days, and adding to it the expectation of completing ALL the to-do lists. So today I am just going to be grateful ... grateful for the sun grateful for a bit of exercise grateful that we are still allowed to leave our homes during this uncertain time grateful my kids are both napping right now And I am hopeful that one day soon this view will be of a mountain in a provincial park and not of dead grass in the neighbourhood park. (Although I am also grateful to have safe, wife-open spaces nearby!) Hope you are able to find gratitude somewhere in your day today

This short lecture spoke volumes to me - dealing with these times, processing these emotions, feeling these deep-down feelings, and being kind and open and empathetic to all the stories we are hearing... I am a 'problem-solver' but trying to change - realizing that looking for a solution isn't always the solution. Brené Brown is

What a crazy, unprecedented time... Lakeview Physiotherapy will be closing it's door effective today. I am so heart-broken knowing that I can't do the job that I love and I can't physically help people, some of whom I know so desperately need it, but whole-heartedly know this is the right decision for all of our health and safety. As I contact my active patients to tell them the news, I feel inside the growing need to stay connected. Although I can't fully comprehend how this going to effect us all long term, I do know one of the necessities will be to stay in touch - be it a phone call, an email, a face-to-face video chat - we are all in this together and we all need to support each other in this new normal. Please reach out if you are needing someone to talk to... we will get through this together!!
