Hi Everyone, It is with heavy heart that I say that Sackville Kung Fu will not be re-opening in the near future. There is a possibility of there being an instructor down the road, but that path is not clear enough to make a commitment to all the amazing students, parents, and supporters. Unfortunately COVID-19 had us shut our doors rather unexpectedly, and much sooner than anticipated. As you all know, my own path is taking me away from Sackville, but it is important to note ...that I got to where I am today and am the person I am thanks to all of the love and support from my instructors, my students, and the parents. The last year and a half of teaching has been a huge eye-opener for me, and a massive learning experience. I have made many mistakes, and have made much progress as an instructor. Through the thick and thin I believe we created a community of trust, friendship, and openness, and a community where everyone felt they could be themselves, and grow as individuals. I will treasure the artwork and other gifts given to me by students (as well as a few scars, I'm sure) and I will miss the show and tells, sparring, workouts, coffees (thank-you, parents!) and everything else about the classes. I encourage those who can to look into Shr Fu Brenna's school in Truro to continue your training and keep in touch with the family. To Shr Fu Brenna, Shr Gung Gerald, and Gao Shr Larry, as well as all of the other instructors (and students!) I have had over the years, thank you for being the incredible people and influence you have been. I have grown as a martial artist and as a person in a positive way thanks to your tutelage, and I look forward to keeping in touch and continuing my own training, albeit remotely. Although all of my students are absolutely fantastic - I'd like to give an honorable mention to two of the longest standing students the club has ever had - Tony and Madison: You two are incredible - thank you for all of your help over the years and for being such amazing students. Hi Everyone! Just providing an update since public facilities are starting to reopen, including gyms. While what we do takes place in a gym, we still cannot adhere to safety guidelines such as social distancing. I will continue to monitor the situation and take guidance from both the health authorities and other martial art schools, and keep you all updated if anything changes. Stay safe!... -Dave

Hi Everyone, I hope you are all safe and doing what you need to do to protect yourself and others. As I'm sure you're aware, schools are closed now until May 1. In our commitment to doing our part for the community and to adhere to the guidelines set out by the province, we will also be closed for the Month of April, and will re-evaluate at a later date.... In other news, a few of you reached out asking for videos and I am pleased to say that Shr Fu Brenna has not only made videos for her club, but she has agrees to share them! Update re: COVID-19: as per my last update, we are aligning our status with the public school system and following the advice of the professionals and health officials. Sackville Kung Fu will remain closed for the next three weeks effective immediately. While this is a sad decision to make, it is important we keep the greater community in mind do our part to help mitigate the spread of the virus. ... We will keep you updated periodically as more information becomes available and ask for your patience and understanding as we learn how to cope with this new crisis. Classes Resuming this Friday! The new location will be at 169 Lakecrest Drive, Middle Sackville. Thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding as the details regarding the move get worked out, and a huge thank you to Ryan at Manimal for all he has done for us on the back end of things and ultimately getting the new place set up for us. One note regarding the new location: This is a residential property with a shared, small driveway. During our classes we will nee...d to park on the street do we don't block in the other resident(s). As before, youth classes will be on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and the adult classes will follow these, from 7:00 pm to 8:30pm. It's been a long couple of weeks! Time to get back into it!

Update: Driver was intoxicated. Bad news, but good that we got them off the road. Adult class is ON for tonight! Hey Everyone, huge huge apology for the last minute cancellation of the kids class. On my way to class there was an impaired driver on the road and to help update police I stayed on the phone and kept on the highway until police caught up and the driver was taken off of the road.
