S A C R E D P R E G N A N C Y CA L G A R Y R E T R E A T 18.... We just wrapped up the 17th retreat last weekend, loves, and it was beautiful. It was such a grounding weekend, outside catching the last of the summer medicine before we turn inwards and follow the trees example of letting go and hibernating. We have already received requests for registration for the next retreat and so we are opening to receive intakes right away. The next Sacred Pregnancy Calgary Retreat Will once again be hosted in the beautiful shamanic lands of Misty Ridge Retreat in the nature rich outskirts of Calgary. We will gather in the late Autumn days which feel much like deep winter here in the foothills and get cosy by candlelight to move into the depths of how pregnancy and birth is a rite of passage and a transformative peak experience to be honoured. As usual, we will explore sacred space, sisterhood, relationships, art for birth, the ancient art of sacred postpartum and more secret activities that are tailored to the gathering of women who arrive in circle each time. You will not be led through breathing for birth or a list of pain relief options but you will be guided into the various brainwaves states and connection to your body and mind that is imperative in the birth journey. There is much deep magic involved in this weekend. Please DM for more information. Spaces are once again limited more than usual and there are only 6 spaces available for overnight accommodation that includes full supper and breakfast plus access to spa beds and a chance to sink into a weekend immersion. Part 2 of: . W H Y W E G A T H E R. There are 8 distinct parts to our Sacred Pregnancy Retreat, but each section merges rather seamlessly with heightening levels of connection.... After a swift break from the very first portion of the weekend, chatter is beginning to rise a little. Some speak up, some remain quiet and watchful. But glances are being exchanged back and forth, women may now be finding their safe person, the one who they will subconsciously be connecting with on a deeper level. Others may be finding themselves in a more motherly role, overseeing the group. Characters are peeking out from behind previously cautious eyelids and sparkles in pupils are becoming evident. CONNECTIONS & EXPECTATIONS are being introduced. We, as space holders, encourage it further. We midwife the group through this further expansion into self and space exploration. After this segment, there is a definite feeling that there is no going back. As contractions pick up in the birth journey, so it is with the surges of emotion during this hour of the weekend. On the first day, as we gather in circle, most of the women are a palpable mixed bag of anticipation, nerves, and heightened sense of awareness; much like the build up to birth, she is keenly cognizant of the fact that what is going to occur in the next little while will likely alter her perception of what she has been traversing. These are the hours of laboring down; keen sensory faculties, alert and awaiting. . We begin to cosy in by bringing down the energy, getting focused and starting to acquaint ourselves with one another. CREATING SACRED SPACE, a safe container for anything and all that will unfurl is paramount. Oxytocin rich. The lights are soft, one way or another; winter months find a fire casting a hue and when the summer days are upon us, we find shade from the heat but bask in blasts of light rays. . The first hours of the weekend are about setting the scene, crafting a foundation and bringing in the wisdom of ancestors and all the women before us. . Anticipatory. But solid. . Her own healing. What she needs. What she desires. How to nourish her own dreams, how own body, her own spirit. Time is up for that. The work of the Mother can no longer be rooted in Martyrdom; it’s serving no-one. In the quest to serve herself, she may choose community who feed her back. Feed in to her needs, dreams, desires. Nourish her with listening ears and sharing heart. We have a space for you. It isn’t about breath for birth, it’s about healing the earth and that starts with the Mama. It’s about the creation of sacred space, connecting with the feminine internally and around us, looking into eyes, feeling heartspaces, being witnessed in our embodiment, reviewing relationships, releasing deep seated fears, feasting, burning, body movement, ceremony, ritual...it’s ancient. I love us. When I say that, I don’t mean that I love the idea of us. Or that everything is always lovely and so it’s easy to love us. Mostly, yes.... I mean that she is my sister in the non-blood but every other bit of me sense. She holds a baby, I wear a baby. She takes a break, I pick it up. I forget all the things, she steers me to Centre where i can retrieve the lost parts. It is a sisterhood 6 years in the making but neither of us believe that: it’s like a repetitive coming together of souls until ‘I love us’ is less about the frenzy of new friendship and more the sort of feeling that you have when you pull on your favorite oversized sweater on the first day of Fall. There’s an ease that comes not from a total lack of butting heads, but the butting heads becomes a gentle, hugging catalyst to deeper levels of learning how we work as a gathered force. This is how we have held space in a duo as well as how we hold space by ourselves. We are whole in single person format but we are an enriched experienced offered to others/mothers as a team.
