Family Friends are volunteers that come alongside either the parent or child and offer friendship, mentoring and support. They are crucial to the ministry of Safe Families! Have you ever wondered why Safe Families? Why volunteer? Why get involved in a personal, relational way with strangers who might be struggling? THIS is why! These two precious babes arrived just over a week ago, healthy twins born to a beautiful mama that Safe Families and a team of volunteers have been supporting. Mama was on complete bedrest while Dad and Oma cared for her and their three older sets of twins. This would be a tough situation for anyone, but they man...aged it with such grace and joy, even through the tears. And thanks to a small army of volunteers who stepped up and brought meals, donated formula and diapers, helped with cleaning, childcare and rennovations, we eased the load and gave this family the hope they needed to make things just a wee bit easier! After working with this amazing family, I have a fresh perspective on Psalm 127:3, "Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him." Are these two deliciously squishy little wee ones not the most wonderful reward ever?!

Do you have a carseat or booster seat that is not expired, in good condition and has never been in an accident? Safe Families is looking for a few carseats and booster seats that we can lend out to volunteers who need to drive around the kids we are working with. I am completely blown away. People in our community, you are amazing. The response to Friday's post was overwhelming. Thank you so much to everyone who shared our post, to everyone who reached out and requested more information, asked for the Family Friend application, signed up for the Host Family training. We are building a great foundation of volunteers at Safe Families! I will be very busy screening and processing volunteers so that we can help more families who need a helping hand! Y'all are my heroes!
