How much notice do landlords have to give tenants to enter their unit? Unless it is an emergency ie: leak causing damage, fire , flood or if the tenant agrees that the landlord can enter, the landlord must provide the tenant with a written 24 hours notice to enter the unit. Landlords must give a time and show up within that time frame. If the landlord fails to show up within that time frame a new 24 hours notice must be given. Tenants do not have to be present during this time unless previously requested by the landlord. Tenants cannot refuse the landlord entry if the proper 24 hours notice was given.
