Why cleaning is more important than ever Cleanliness has always been top of mind for hosts and guests. But it’s even more critical as we all aim to reduce the spread of infection. According to the CDC, it’s possible for someone to contract COVID-19 by touching ...a contaminated surfacelike a doorknob or light switchand the virus may live on some surfaces for several hours or even days. That’s why it’s essential to clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces often, especially between reservations. Note: Based on CDC recommendations, we advise waiting 24 hours after each guest’s stay to begin cleaning. Out of an abundance of caution, hosts partnering in an Open Homes initiative are required to wait 72 hours between reservations given the elevated risk of exposure. ****The difference between disinfecting and cleaning When it comes to preventing the spread of germs, it helps to understand the difference between cleaning and disinfecting. Cleaning is the act of removing germs, dirt, and impurities (like when you use a soapy sponge to wipe off a visibly dirty counter or stovetop). Disinfecting is when you use chemicals to kill germs (like spraying with a bleach solution). By cleaning first, then disinfecting, you can lower the risk of infection. Hi my name is Andrea Doucette thank you for coming to this page. If you are a front-line worker looking for a SafeHaven... on behalf of myself and all the hosts participating THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS. We hope you can now rest a little more, knowing you are keeping your loved ones safe at home. If you are a host with a property to offer Thank you for helping me provide this list of SafeHavens for all those who need it the most. ... With the world in such uncertain times and so many people putting themselves at harm reach I thought "What can I do?" I am not a caregiver, a tutor, an entertainer but I am in the field of public relations: when this idea occurred to me... The short term vacation rental industry just "tanked" as they say, this season and perhaps the summer season too, perhaps not going to happen this year. I have personally seen over $10k in booking disappear, in properties that I manage in a 48 hour period. We now have these properties sitting empty and being underutilized. People are not travelling but there is still a need. What if we can provide a home away from home for our guests so that they can rest and take care of themselves knowing that they are not putting their family at risk just doing their job and keeping all of us safe. I see the young nurse who shares home with her elderly in laws : the Dr who has young children at home or the janitor that has loved ones who are immunocompromised; all these people doing their "jobs" is in fear every day that they may comprise their loved ones in some way. I started SafeHaven Properties so that it can be a resource for available properties so that our frontline workers can spend as little time as possible having to stress, over this part anyway. So, my intent is to create a list for each Hospital region across the Island and Labrador that will be updated daily giving you information on how to contact a SafeHaven Host. If you need my help with that I can help here too. Please feel free to message me here at any time with any questions.
