MEDIA RELEASE- Safe Surrey Coalition Condemns Sexist & Racist Attacks Safe Surrey Coalition is calling for an immediate end to the vitriolic rhetoric emerging from Keep the RCMP in Surrey.

The Safe Surrey Coalition offers congratulations to the incoming Surrey Police Service’s first Chief of Police Norm Lipinski. Chief Lipinski’s diverse policing experience from across Canada will serve Surrey well as the city transitions to a localized force that will offer citizens greater accountability, responsiveness and connection to the local community. The Safe Surrey Caucus is anxious to begin working closely with the new Chief in preparation for the commencement of Surrey Police Service patrols in April, 2021.

Councillor Linda Annis will not be supporting the financial capital plan. It's time to ask her why she is voting against such important projects for our city.

An elected official should never put their political ambitions ahead of the commitments they made to get elected. But this is exactly what Councillor Jack Hundial has done with his flip flop on Surrey's transition to our own Surrey Police Service. Surrey's electorate deserves better.

When confronted by CTV Vancouver about his documented racism & sexism, Keep the RCMP in Surrey's coodinator Ivan Scott can't decide if he should "fall down with laughter" Mr. Scott's divisive & offensive views are relics from another age & don't represent the majority of Surrey residents

It’s no secret that Surrey has always been a desirable place for young families and first-time homeowners looking to get into the market. Among the new developments, I am especially pleased with the projects that will expand the rental housing stock in Surrey.-Mayor Doug McCallum

The motion is being brought by Coun. Doug Elford Monday. If passed, it directs staff to come back with recommendations on how to move forward with a transition.

Regardless of where you stand on policing in Surrey, there is no place for racist remarks at any level. The statements that I have seen from Ivan Scott, of Keep The RCMP In Surrey are of an intolerant nature and are racially charged. I wholly condemn them. I cannot fathom how the needs of an individual can outweigh the needs of the many, in this case the safety of the women and children who live in Surrey. As I have said before, the release of a dangerous sexual predator that is deemed a high risk to re-offend into a city that is well known for its growing population of young families is irresponsible and reprehensible.
