People tend to have good instincts for detecting danger. After all, we have evolved to constantly assess our surroundings and navigate through uncertainty. Without this evolutionary advantage, we wouldnt be here. Many times, a bad feeling is enough to prompt immediate action and keep us safe. But not everything looks like a saber-toothed tiger. What if you couldnt notice the danger easily? In that case, you would need someone who has the knowledge and skills to see what you cant. When it comes to occupational health hazards, registered occupational hygienists are that someone. Theyre the only people we trust to assess our clients workplaces and wed like to tell you why theyre worth their weight in gold. http://ht.ly/2HIZ30lrP4P

An impairment focus will bulletproof your drug and alcohol policy for the upcoming cannabis legalization in Canada. Jacques gives his perspective on how to use an impairment focus instead of a substance focus to help ensure safety in your workplace. https://youtu.be/Hph3Q7bTWHA
What a busy couple of weeks! After our previous blog post about why you need to strengthen your drug and alcohol policy, so much has happened in the realm of cannabis law. Bill C-45 received royal assent and cannabis is set to be legal on October 17th this year. The Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) just rejected Unifors appeal of the Suncor case. Unifor, a union representing over 3,000 of Suncors employees, filed a complaint over the introduction of random drug testing. The ...case has been ongoing for six years. Energy Safety Canada (ESC) and the Construction Owners Association of Alberta (COAA) came up with updated guidelines for creating an effective drug and alcohol policy. There is a lot to catch up on! http://ht.ly/gqOV30kVpN3 See more
