Please share! Safetynet will remain open during the lockdown. Programs, until further notice, will be reduced to essentials, such as diapers, furniture, and clothing depending on need. We will be accepting clothing donations at this time, but ask that you hang on to your housewares donations until after the lockdown.... Link here for more details: https://www.safetynetservices.ca/

Did you know that we gave out 2558 furniture items in 2020 to families we serve? We accept donations of used furniture in good condition and distribute to those in need. We focus on essentials like dressers, couches and loveseats, dining tables and chairs, and lamps. All furniture donations need to be prearranged with our Furniture Program: [email protected]. If you have an item for donation, email a photo and description, and they will be in touch.... Thanks to our wonderful community, we have some great numbers to share - clothing and diapers we were able to give out in 2020 to the families we serve. Clothing and diaper donations are accepted in person at the charity Mon-Sat, 9:30-1pm (1317 Speers Rd), or you can use the convenient bins 24/7 in the parking lot (please bag donations). Clothing that is donated and in good condition, is provided to our families free of charge. ... Nothing goes to waste - worn and torn clothing is also accepted for our recycling program. Carole, our ‘Chief Elf’ and Fundraising Coordinator, has been at the helm of our Holiday Program this year. Her energy, enthusiasm, mad organizational skills, and kind heart helped make this program a success in a year when it was so very much needed. It has been a very busy month, but the Elves team, Heather, Bree-Anne, and Ally, and all of the volunteers at the charity made it all possible, and ensured that donors and clients were greeted with smiling eyes and a bit of holi...day cheer. We had 84 families receive full Family Holiday packages this year that included gift cards, toys and pajamas. 4 children who had bikes on their wish lists received one, courtesy of our incredible Bicycle Program team. The sponsorship packages, numerous community donations of gift cards, financial support, and extras brought into Safetynet this month have helped to make the season bright for so many of the families we serve. Carole says Our Holiday Elves team has been overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of our community, in coming together to support each other. I can’t express in words the gratitude we feel for our incredible supporters and the contributions of so many people, organizations, and community groups this season. Our hearts are full. #safetynetElves

Last week, Margaret Martingano from the Oakville chapter of Project Linus Canada brought in 60 quilts and blankets all beautifully handmade by volunteers. Some have already been tucked into Holiday Elves packages, and will go under the tree, some will go to families with new babies, and others will go home with clients who come in for bedding. Thank you to Project Linus and all of the volunteers in the Oakville chapter who made this happen! #projectLinusOakville #projectLin...us #safetynet Learn more about this amazing project: https://projectlinuscanada.org/ See more
