One of the largest areas of focus in our presentations is discussions on workplace hazards; and one of the most insidious of these are psycho-social hazards. Stress, harassment and extreme fluctuation in shift-hours are all examples of psycho-social hazards, however there is another that is affecting workers all over the world as the result of restrictions meant to curb the spread of COVID-19: Isolation. The province is offering virtual counselling resources for individuals 16 years of age and up, offered in multiple languages. Best of all, this service is free. It is with great regret that we've had to cancel our annual Day of Mourning event. Under normal circumstances, following the candlelight vigil for fallen workers, we would have marched to the Legislative Building where we would gather and listen to guest speakers share their heartbreak and hope regarding incidents in the workplace. Though this portion of the event will not take place, we encourage you to go to the Manitoba Federation of Labour's Facebook page tomorrow at 11:00 am where MFL President Kevin Rebeck will be leading the FB Live ceremony.
