Seeing as how November is Family Violence Prevention Month, we thought that it'd be timely to re-post this great article from CBC Edmonton from March, 2020 that talks about the unique challenges experienced by seniors feeling domestic abuse. Check it out (and see a great clip from our very own Michele Markham, manager of Sage Seniors' Safe House!) If you are a senior experiencing abuse (or know of one) people visit the Sage website at https://www.mysage.ca/help/seniors-safe-house or call the 24-hour Seniors Abuse Helpline at 780-454-8888. https://www.cbc.ca//older-adults-fleeing-domestic-violence
The Sage Seniors Safe House is a refuge for seniors facing abuse. Thanks to the support of individuals and community-minded organizations, we've raised over 90% of the funds required to renovate the space to make it more accessible and safe. Help finish the job! Your year-end gift makes a world of difference for vulnerable seniors. Click here to donate: https://bit.ly/34BNZJn
