Recently someone said they couldn’t tell where I stand on racism by my social media feed. It hasn’t felt right to post about acupuncture or my dog when there’s a much needed collective awakening happening. It still doesn’t. This all should have happened a long time ago! I think covid has allowed us to feel our global community. I have been quiet but also intently listening, paying attention, and studying. Posting a black square felt like I was taking up space. Posting about... being at a protest, course I’m taking, books I’m reading also felt like look at the good white girl. If you happen to be one of my followers that don’t know me and you’re wondering where I stand... I am strongly opposed to the immense suffering caused by racial, systemic, and social inequities. Growing up, I’ve seen how this suffering has affected people I love deeply. And so I’ve raised my children carefully to be aware allies. I have hard conversations with my friends and family and ask a lot of questions. I am trying and I know I need to continue to try in whatever way I can. Thinking back to some of the things I’ve said in conversations in the past, I cringe.. There’s always so much to learn on how to help change. The more I learn, the more I realize I should shut up and listen. So I can learn more. Art @blcksmth Quote @jenerous

It doesn’t feel like social isolation. The opposite for me actually. These times remind me of how truly connected we all are. On so many levels. I find it quite beautiful. Out of respect for the many elders in our community, I’m limiting my physical interactions to just my family, very few careful friends, and my patients that are in need of treatments. I’ll be seeing only 4 patients a day at this time. But I’m sending love and care to my entire human family! Grateful that I live in paradise...social isolation isn’t so bad here.
