November 9, 2020 COVID -19 VISITING GUIDELINES UPDATE... Dear Residents, Family and Friends, With the cold weather upon us and increasing cases of COVID-19 in the province, a few of which have not been attributed to travel, we are closely monitoring the potential risks to our Residents and staff. Although there is no change to our guidelines as I write this letter, for the protection and safety of everyone living and working in our homes, we may determine with limited or no notice that some types of visits may need to be restricted or put on hold. If or when that happens, a communication will be sent out to family designated next of kin via email and on our Facebook site. We will also communicate this to our Residents and staff. We will reach out to visitors individually who would be immediately impacted. Unfortunately, this virus can become widespread in the community very quickly which means decisions to change access to visits may be made very suddenly. We understand this can cause disappointment and inconvenience, but please know these decisions are made very carefully with the best interest of everyone involved. As a reminder, our staff are required to enforce all infection control measures with visitors. We appreciate your ongoing cooperation. And please remember a 6 foot distance is required during all visits except when giving the brief hug and when necessary for the designated caregiver to be within that space to provide care with a medical mask on. Also as per the Chief Medical Officer of Health, home visits are to be from the facility directly home and back. Please minimize the number of family members/support persons who have close contact (within 6 feet) with the Resident, to minimize potential exposures. Additional requirements for home visits are to have no more than the gathering limit of 10 people including the Resident, no one present who is ill, who has been in contact with someone who is COVID positive, or anyone who has traveled outside of the Atlantic bubble within 14 days or who has visited an orange zone in New Brunswick in the past 14 days. Other details will be provided to you at time of visit. I wish to again thank our wonderful staff, families and Residents for your ongoing diligence, our Residents are adjusting to this way of being and hopefully we can maintain these very important, supportive visits to keep their spirits lifted! Sincerely, Tracy Bonner, BScN, RN Administrator
