Shri Saraswati and the Beggar: a story about ego etween the Goddess of wealth and the Goddess of education there was a little conflict. You can say education or the Saraswati, if neglected or if too much... adored, can make you egoistical in the sense that if you become a person who is after learning, learning, learning, you can be thrown on the other side. A LADY WANTED TO TEST the power of wealth, so she said to Lakshmi, All right, let’s see on this person. This person was a beggar. He needed money very much, so Lakshmi put a lot of money in a big utensil, what we call a handa, and put it in his way. This fellow was walking, so Saraswati entered into his mind. As soon as Saraswati entered into his mind, he became egoistical and he did not even look at that handa. He just walked off. That was his need, but he walked off. SO IT SUGGESTS ONE thing: when people become egoistical, they start making their own plans. They start making their own suggestions and images they form. Then what happens is that the Divine, who is trying to supply for your need, for your wants, for your solutions, disappears. This is what happens: we do not allow the Divine to have its play. This is not only on the material level. It is true also on the emotional level. It is true also on our physical level. But the best of all is that it is true about the spiritual level also. So we should not miss the point. Let the Divine play its role and we should be able to see.DEVI PUJA, 31 MAY 1985, San Diego, USA See more

June trip to Toronto - cancelled. Late summer plans - on hold, but closer to cancelled. Further plans - none. I find it very interesting to discover through thi...s virus thing, that even people like me, whose medium-term lives are very unpredictable, spend waaaay too much time in the future, even if it’s short-term future. The virus has erased our short-term plans, in a way has closed off our future from us, and as annoying as this could be, there’s not much we can do about it. So maybe one could learn from this to live more in the present and not to waste so much attention on the future that might or might not be what we projected. I wouldn’t mind learning more of that. CONNECTION BETWEEN IMMORALITY AND FUNDAMENTALISM And as I told you the other day that if people become very immoral you will find another kind of thing growing up which we call as fundamentalist, whether they are Christians, Muslims are just the same, so this immoral, behaviour of people somehow or other generates, that another kind of people. It has happened at the time of Hitler, in the same way it will happen here. So you have to be very, alert about it. If you see in ...the newspaper something give it a bandhan. If you read about somebody who has been very immoral give it a bandhan, because it will work. You are all saints and you can do a lot. Whatever you desire will happen. So that’s one thing why I feel is, very much dragging and this alcoholism drinking, drugs also. So whenever you read in the newspaper just give it a bandhan. It will work out. That can bring prosperity, happiness, joy, even to other people. Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi Feb. 28, 1995
