Did you know that it is best to treat varicose veins in the winter? Here’s why: 1. You can better tolerate compression stockings. Compression stockings are quite useful in varicose vein treatment, but they are more comfortable to wear in cooler months. When compression stockings are more comfortable, you’re more likely to wear them the way you are supposed to so you can properly heal after treatment. The one way to know that you are getting the most out of treatment is to hav...e a good doctor and to be compliant throughout the process. 2. You have time to get ready for shorts weather. Getting treatment in the winter gives you time to get the appropriate treatment and heal before warm weather comes. Treatments such as sclerotherapy can cause discoloration and bruising that you will want to cover up. Liquid and foam sclerotherapy are designed to get the best results. These injected chemical treatment methods are typically a complement to our endovenous radio frequency ablation procedures which are the mainstay of modern vein treatments. To ensure accuracy, ultrasound can be used as a guide throughout the process. This ensures the best possible outcome and makes the sclerotherapy process much more successful. Because of the ability to use ultrasound guidance during vein treatment, specialists can now treat major veins of the superficial venous system. The varicose vein treatment possibilities are growing and will continue to grow. This is good news for everyone currently hiding their legs from the world because they don’t want their varicose veins to show. 3. Varicose veins are better seen in the winter. Varicose veins are usually at their nastiest during the winter because physical activity tends to decrease. Basically, circulation is decreased, which makes the veins stand out more. The positive aspect of more visible veins is that this helps better identify the problem areas and even highlights why treatment is important. If you don’t seek treatment for spider and varicose veins, your legs can become painful and no one wants that. Painful legs in the winter can lead to legs that stay painful in the summer, which turns into reduced activity all year round. When you stop moving around because of leg pain, your health can seriously suffer. Call us on 506 6487013 to schedule your appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon!

CAUTION - from the desk of Dr. Omotoso "Do you know what a VEIN MILL is?" If a PUPPY MILL is defined as a 'large-scale commercial dog breeding operation where profit is given priority over the well-being of the dogs' then a vein mill does the same thing, but with people. ... How do you know that you are in a vein mill or the wrong office? Here are a few simple rules to follow: - In a vein mill everybody "qualifies" for ablation, but ablation is not for everyone. - If you aren’t seeing a vascular surgeon then you are in a vein mill. - If a non-physician performs the procedure to close your veins, then you are in a vein mill. - If you think your vein problems involve one leg and you are told that both legs need to be treated, then you are in a vein mill. - The more veins that you are told need to be closed, the more likely you are to be in a vein mill. - If you are there for a free consultation then you are likely in a vein mill. - If you aren’t sure if you are ready to treat your veins, and you are being told that you really need to have your veins treated, then you are likely at a vein mill. For those with varicose veins - watch out for the heat! When we get too warm, our body responds by trying to cool itself down. It does this by dilating (expanding) veins, to allow more blood to flow to the surface of the skin. In pushing blood up to the surface of the skin, this mechanism directs more blood towards varicose veins as these are commonly found just under the surface of the skin. In dilating blood vessels, this increases the volume of blood which passes through the veins. Varicose veins are damaged veins, caused by a malfunctioning valve. This broken valve allows blood to flow backwards into the vein where it begins to pool; damaging and stretching the vein.
