Friends, A unique book launch of Punjabi poetry by two distinguished Punjabi language poets resident in Canada took place at a well attended ceremony , on Augus...t 13, 2017, in Malton, a center of Punjabi language and culture in Canada. Saleem Pasha a distinguished poet and writer of Pakistani origin and Sukhinder a poet and intellectual of Indian origins jointly published their Punjabi poems in a single volume in both Gurmukhi and Shah Muhki scripts of Punjabi languages. It is probably the first such volume in kind and definitely the first from Canada. Our friend poet and writer Syed Tayyab Raza kazmi noted the coincidence of this book launch around the 70th independence anniversary of India and Pakistan. Punjabi writers of Pakistani and Indian origins in Canada have been working together for a long time. And at each Punjabi writers event in Canada , the sincere desire of peace between India and Pakistan specially between people of Punjab is always evident. We are certain that this joint project by Saleem Pasha and Sukhinder will add value to these friendly and sincere efforts. Waryam Singh Sandhu (Senior writer), Prof Ashiq Raheel,Hazrat Shaam, Jasbir Kalarvi were the main speakers. Saleem Pasha and Sukhinder also shared their poems and thoughts. Nearly all major Punjabi writers in Toronto and connoisseurs of Punjabi literature graced the event and made it a great success.
